Twenty five films were just added to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress- do you see any favorites on this list?
The horrors of war, the heroism of sacrifice, a vaudeville pioneer, the devil and a master of the macabre represent the diversity of an elite selection of films that have been recognized as cultural, historic or aesthetic cinematic treasures.

An oldie, but still awesome!

Wicked Hemlocks experiment wildly with a number of sounds, from funk to chaotic, noisy rock. On their latest CD — the appropriately-titled Quill of the Mad — the group uses heavy effects to bend and warp songs into '60s-flavored psychedelia, similar Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd or the Silver Apples.

I heard this report last night; a fascinating concept.
We humans have been dropping "um," "uh" and other expressions of hesitation into our speech for a long time — maybe for as long as we've had language. More recently, linguists are noting a shift in usage across a number of Germanic languages from "um" to "uh."

"Although this film was necessarily rushed to completion, it was a major success for Paramount.  "Star Trek"'s fans, while recognizing the original release's rough edges, still embraced the big-screen adventure of Kirk and his crew.

One of the best direct measures of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" is the fact that Robert Wise's film launched a series of "Star Trek" theatrical films and spin-off TV shows that have thrived for over 20 years.  During that time, "Star Trek" has entertained millions, while helping to inspire countless young people to become teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers, scientists, artists, and even astronauts.

Gene Roddenberry's creation celebrates our humanity and encourages us to find joy in our diversity.

Not bad for a failed TV show."
