Belstone Pottery-David Gundry
I have known David for many years and love his beautiful pottery. Make time for a visit to Belstone and take home something to remember the beauty of Devon.
"I make wood-fired, hand-thrown, stoneware vessels for the home – mainly for the table and kitchen. A wide range of domestic and studio pieces, using traditional glazes such as tenmocho, celadons, cobalt blue, ash green, copper red etc. – all exhibited in a light, airy, oak-framed studio.
My pottery is made on Dartmoor, from Cornish clay fired with Devon wood. I hope my pots, as do those of other societies, find some honest synthesis as a reflection of my own culture. Above all I hope they nourish!"

The Tarka Trail - passing by The Old Stable
Inspired by Henry Williamson’s much loved novel ‘Tarka the Otter’ which was based on real places, this 163 miles/261kms recreation route follows Tarka’s journeys, in a figure of eight, through the northern part of the county, designated by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.
Comprehensively waymarked, the walk varies from easy to challenging. Short sections of the trail and circular walks from it are ideal for day and half-day excursions.
The Trail passes through the towns of Lynmouth, Barnstaple, Bideford, Torrington, Okehampton and Ilfracombe and parts of it coincide with the South West Coast Path, the Two Moors Way and the Dartmoor Way.

You don't have to go far to find a fabulous place to eat out, just about a mile away!
One of the most exciting, new dining experiences,
If you seek good food that is fun than come and dine in the bar/restaurant where we have designed a style of menu that ensures there is something for everyone. Our team believe in great food that is exciting and the seasonal menus showcases just that. With much of the food coming from suppliers right on our doorstep you can be safe in the knowledge that the food has been freshly prepared in-house using locally sourced produce. Our daily evening specials give us the opportunity to prepare dishes that include the freshest and best that Devon can offer as they change daily depending on whatever we have been able to get our hands on that day. If you are looking for a great meal with an element of excitement in North Devon, then look no further.

Soak up the changing autumn colours at +NationalTrust Lydford Gorge.
Make the most of the late sunshine in September and enjoy the golden brown canopy of the oak trees as the season moves into autumn in October.
The three mile circular gorge walk is well worth the effort, although the path is narrow, steep and slippery in places. Where the river is wide and slow and after the crowds of summer have left there are opportunities to spot river birds such as dippers and grey wagtails. In other sections of the gorge the river is certainly not gentle as it roars through narrow passages and pours into boiling potholes. The shorter walks to Devil’s Cauldron and Whitelady waterfall also provide a great opportunity to experience the wonder of nature.
