Who we are:

Bandoneon player and composer born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 1983, Matias graduated from the basic training course at the Luis Gianneo conservatory – specializing in guitar – and went on to study composition with Marcelo Perticone.

In 2005 and 2006 he participated in various projects, first as a guitarist arranging tangos, and also as bandoneonist playing the music of Astor Piazzolla.

During 2007 and 2008 he was a member of the Emilio Balcarce School of Tango Orchestra project – playing the bandoneon under the direction of Nestor Marconi – and also underwent intensive training with Ramiro Gallo and Federico Pereiro.

Matias has played with various ensembles in milongas and theatres in Buenos Aires and has also toured a number of countries such as Argentina, France, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium.

Completing courses in composition and musical arrangement at the National College for the Arts (UNA, ex IUNA), he brought his knowledge of harmony, counterpoint, orchestration and composition to a deeper level.

On a tour organized by the Argentina Foreign Ministry, Matias toured Haiti in 2013 with the flautist Eduardo Tami where they played works by Astor Piazzolla together with the Saint Trinité Orchestra in Port au Prince.

He played on the soundtrack of the film History of Cronopios and Famas by Ludueña July, released in 2014 to mark the 100th birthday of Julio Cortázar. The film won second prize for animation in the New Latin American Cinema Festival in Havana.

Matias currently lives in Buenos Aires and is a member of the Bataraz Quintet, a project which won first prize in the National Endowment for the Arts scheme in 2014 and also forms part of the septet of CIMAP, an ensemble directed by Hilda Herrera dedicated to the folk music of Argentina.

Pianist and composer, Gustavo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1985. He studied classical music at the J.J. Castro conservatory and a course in tango and folk music performance and arrangement at the Institute Superior Manuel de Falla.

His teachers include Nestor Zulueta, Nicolas Ledesma, Pablo Fraguela and Leopoldo Limeres.

In 2009 he graduated from the course on harmony and popular composition at SADAIC under Juan Carlos Cirigliano.

He has been pianist and arranger with the singer Mauro Guiretti since 2008 and has recorded 3 albums with him and performed at major festivals in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. In 2012, he won second prize for best song in Peru.

Since 2007 he has played in various tango ensembles and has performed in the most prestigious theaters and milongas of Buenos Aires and the provinces of Argentina.

Gustavo was a member of the orchestra of the Brenda Angiel aerial dance group and took part in performances in Argentina and the Netherlands.

In 2011 and 2012 he worked for the Costa Cruises Company as pianist and arranger on the ship Costa Mágica.

In recent years he has accompanied singers and instrumentalists of the most diverse styles, from classical music to tango, the most notable of whom are Zamba Quipildor (Misa Criolla), María Grana, Carlos Cabral (Los Carbajal), Ricardo ‘Chiqui’ Pereyra and Ernesto Baffa.

Since 2005 he has also composed and arranged scores for short films and musicals, and has played in orchestras performing live in plays.

Cheers from Argentina. I would like to introduce myself. I am Matías and I am a musician specializing in tango music arrangements and transcriptions. I'm also a bandoneon player and composer. Together with my partner Gustavo who is a piano player we provide advice on argentinian Tango. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about our music.
