Getting the stink eye from this momma Albatross after I got a little too close for comfort. I was trying to capture a decent image of the chic that's resting at her feet and it just didn't want to give up a wink to me. I moved on but might make the seven mile round trip hike back out to this spot in the near future to see if I can get a glimpse of the new one.
The winter months are a good time to catch images of the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal here on Oahu, so I took a hike and was lucky enough to run into this guy. He took a quick break from his nap to pose for me for a few seconds, and then was out again. It's very cool that there is a good conservation program in place to help protect them here, and they appear to be making a come back.
It's been a rainy week on Oahu but in Hawaii you can always find pockets of sunshine somewhere if you try hard enough. I captured this shot on a quiet street back in Makaha Valley on a rainy afternoon last weekend, and I'm glad I took another road I had never traveled before.
I'm an avid photographer currently living in Hawaii, and I love being able to share the beauty of the islands through this medium. You can also check out more of my images
