Ever wonder what horses to play when they are making their first start off of a layoff? Then you should read this....

The spring and summer kick off several great thoroughbred meets. Both Monmouth Park and Woodbine are underway and the premier summer meets of Saratoga and Del Mar are approaching. Two weeks ago I went with value instead of form and selected Mor Spirit over Nyquist. This added to my Kentucky Derby drought as Smarty Jones still remains my last Kentucky Derby Winner! Nyquist proved to all of his detract...

Most people refer to George Elsworth Smith, a.k.a. Pittsburg Phil, as the father of modern handicapping, yet we have all had influences in our lives that have led us down the path to love (and sometimes hate) handicapping. One of my major influences was my late Uncle Dutch. Born Julius Muller in Philadelphia, he married …

It has been three weeks since Exaggerator upset Nyquist down in Baltimore. Nyquist is out after having come down with a fever just after the Preakness. Did this affect his performance on that rainy day in Baltimore or was i...

Just like the late, great Rodney Dangerfield, many horses that have had troubled trips get “no respect.” Given that most of us don’t have time to watch endless replays and take thorough trip notes on each horse in each race, we must rely on the past performances. Crammed off to the right side of each …

After having done our own research on the models and dealerships, I visited World Subaru myself a few months before we had time to come down as a family and test drive the cars. Tim Stewart took the time to go over all of the models and options with me when I came by during my lunch hour one afternoon, knowing that there would not be a sale made that day. Tim was very personable and knowledgeable about the vehicles, models, and the different options offered. When I returned with my wife and three kids a couple of weeks later we were very pleased with how efficient Tim was knowing that keeping three kids entertained during the car buying process was not easy. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with - professional, knowledgeable, and made us feel very comfortable throughout the entire process.
