Hi, I'm Davina Haisell, editor and proofreader at Shades of Crimson.
Attention marketing professionals, authors and copywriters!
I'm a remarkable editor and proofreader. My attention to detail assures your peace of mind, delivery of error-free marketing materials, and fiction and non-fiction books.
This is what my clients have to say:
"Having worked closely with Davina at the agency I knew her work was the best in her field, so the decision to contact her to edit a project was an obvious one. Davina surpassed expectations in that not only did she provide outstanding creative solutions, she expertly designed the piece, saving my client money! In a short period of time she learned all about my client’s product, applied her expertise, and perfected the piece exactly where it was lacking. I’m thrilled to have Davina in my network and highly recommend her services."
~ DK, Marketing/Advertising Professional, Vancouver, BC
“Davina understands the bigger picture significance of quality control. Without her dedication and diligence, it wouldn’t have been as easy for us to deliver consistent brand experiences for our clients and their customers.” ~ W. Moriarty, Print Production Manager, Vancouver, BC
“My book was written with a unique style targeted at a specific audience; Davina kept that intent throughout. She adapted readily to the light and humorous flavour of the text, while ensuring it was absolutely correct and compliant with literary standards. I would highly recommend Davina to ensure accuracy, timeliness in delivery and a high-quality product at the end of the day.” ~ K. Tanner, Author, Squamish, BC
“I’m not comfortable going to print until Davina has eyeballed it. With more than a decade of proofreading experience that includes checking 1-800 numbers and 8 point legal mumbo jumbo, there’s nothing that escapes her eye.”
~ A. Joseph, Copywriter, Vancouver, BC
Selected Highlights and Accomplishments
The Newsies & Pickpockets story
While editing this role-playing game guide, I compiled a comprehensive eight-page style guide for the author. I established typesetting style and hierarchy for unique terminology. The style guide became a valuable tool for maintaining consistency for a wide range of terminology: chit points, attributes, damage scale, swell dice, target numbers and skill types.
The Canadian Journal of Anaesthesia story
This was a new position. I was hired for three days a week to manage the production of their monthly medical journal. I designed the new look for the clinical reports and developed processes to facilitate the production of three journals simultaneously at different stages of production.
It was a juggling act that I managed expertly, while ensuring the journal went to press error-free and on schedule every month.
