PERI customized formwork elements streamlined construction of Rio de Janeiro’s Museum of Tomorrow with breathtaking results. Efficient and dimensionally accurate units enabled timely construction of this complex concrete project designed by famous architect Santiago Calatrava.

PERI planned and supplied more than 3,500 customized special formwork elements (28,000 m²) based on system formwork within only 13 months for the implementation of the extraordinary building. Supported by PERI UP shoring and work scaffolding as well as a VARIOKIT formwork unit, it was possible to assemble the customized elements on site into the overall 3-D formwork. Protruding 300 meters into the ocean, the façade and the roof consist of movable parts which are responsible for the air-conditioning.

PERI products provided fluid engineering support in a technically challenging environment easing the transition from conceptual design to floating, futuristic landmark.

The museum opened at the end of 2015 and since then has been dealing with the questions: Where do we come from? Who are we? Where are we? What is going to happen with us? How do we want to live?

"With the help of the PERI innovation in the form of the heatable Keder-sheeted roof, we could reduce the snow load and, in the process, cost-effectively realize the bridging and load transfer constructions – a result of the excellent collaboration with the PERI engineers who supported us from the planning stage through to implementation on the construction site. In spite of the difficult geometry of the building, we didn´t need any additional filler areas or overlaps due to the form-fitting and non-positive connection of PERI UP Flex. The scaffolding also visually leaves an impressive overall impression and reproduces the silhouette of the gateway building in an enlarged form. This has allowed us to meet the client´s requirements – which has been so successful that up to 8,000 visitors stand and marvel at the scaffolding every day."

Starting off the new year with a focus on safety, PERI Kuwait was recognized for its participation in the Kuwait Oil Company’s Annual “Safe Working At Height” Campaign. On site PERI UP Flex scaffolding mockups were a hit! Our scaffolding system even served as a platform for collaboration with other safety equipment suppliers for their own demos. Highlights from the event included launching the DUO system in the Kuwait market, showcasing the benefits for the oil and gas sector. The PERI team enjoyed meeting everyone and we look forward to finding new ways PERI products can improve your safety and productivity!

The Badr project – A self-contained residential community being built with PERI in Dubai!

The project consists of 11 buildings connected by a common basement of 80,000 m² in Dubai. It is part of five distinct zones with apartments, villas and recreational facilities.

After successfully completing many projects with the Engineering Contracting Company, PERI was able to win this project once again despite the tough competition. The client had a big stock of other material but was convinced to choose PERI to be their formwork and scaffolding supplier on that project.

30,000 m² of PERI SKYDECK panelized slab formwork were delivered along with 114 sets of LICO column formwork. For the shoring, 15,000 m² of PERI UP shoring systems were used.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2018.

Even though unique location constraints required PERI planning to find ways to assemble the whole system by hand, PERI UP Flex scaffolding has optimized comprehensive renovations for the preservation of the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, recently nominated to be a UNESCO cultural heritage site.

PERI UP Flex has resulted in significant savings on materials, as well as erection time and effort. Exclusive use of system scaffolding components accelerated assembly, increased safety, and enabled flexibility given local site conditions, avoiding many potential difficulties. Heatable roof tarpaulins protect against unwanted snow loads, allowing for optimized bay widths and spans in a 25 cm system grid, thus reducing the weight of the construction.
