We were delighted to hear from former Marcellin teacher, John Telfer just before Christmas. John has been selected to run in the baton relay for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He will be running through the Warick CBD on 29th March which is also his 80th Birthday. Congratulations to John and we wish him the very best. Thanks to OC Tim Bushell for passing on John's message. Pictured is John receiving a civic award a few years ago and, him completing one of the 17 marathons he competed in.

It seems like yesterday when we started the Transition Day sausage sizzle for our newest families to the College. But in the five years of the Foundation Office, this day has become a fun tradition and for whatever reason it is ALWAYS a warm to hot summer day! Today was no exception. We were blessed with wonderful volunteers and some brilliant work from our maintenance department to bring it all together. Photos here: https://foundation.smugmug.com/2017/Transition-Day

Today it was all about our wonderful Marcellin College parent volunteers. We celebrated mass and then a luncheon in their honor for all the wonderful work they have done for us this year.

The Marcellin Old Collegian Cricket Club are celebrating their 45th Anniversary this season. Last Saturday, the Club reflected on past Premiership Glory, the 'eras-past' with wonderful anecdotes presented by some of our living legends. Former player and coach Speros Beasley was remembered in a moving tribute by the President Dan Cimoli and a minute's silence was observed. Congratulations to MOCCC for their wonderful contribution to our Community.

Reconnecting with our Old Collegians and former staff is our highest priority. Our ‘Canterbury Roaders’ Heritage Group has been instrumental in bringing so many of the stories of our earliest days to life and helping us bring so many of our Alumni back to the College. Our ‘Bulleen Roaders’ - the men who were there on day one at Bulleen in 1963 - are looking to do the same for their era. Today, friends, John Walsh, Rev Fr Peter Ferwerda, Michael O’Sullivan & Pat Cairney got together for their first meeting and it was heads down and work as they set out on their own journey. We are wishing them the best and will be doing everything to assist.

Last night we had the last of 2017 College Reunions. The Marcellin Alumni Class of 1977 celebrated their 40th Anniversary. In what is now a very popular reunion format - the Old Collegians assembled at Marcellin, where they were taken around the College on a tour lead by Principal Mr Mark Murphy. At the conclusion of the tour, it was over to the Manningham Hotel (still known by so many affectionately at The Sentimental Bloke Hotel) where it is into a private Functions Room and a private Bar! Which was especially important last night as it was a beautifully warm Melbourne Spring evening. The chatter started at Marcellin (the College Principal had to use all his teacher tricks to keep their attention at times) and didn't abate all night. Interestingly no one seemed in too big a hurry to leave the College and wander over to the Pub. More Old Collegians who couldn't get to the tour in time appeared at the Pub as 'walk up ticket sales' which was also a good sign. Retired teacher Al Parkin was there, swamped by his former students. Another great Marcellin night. For Old Collegians who could not get to the reunion, or for whom a reunion is NOT the way you want to reconnect, please contact Lisa, Prue or Chris in the Marcellin Foundation Office, and we would be delighted to take you on a personal tour. +61.39851 1464 foundation@marcellin.vic.edu.au

2017 VALEDICTORY MASS AND PUB DINNER FOR OLD COLLEGIANS
Some of our Old Collegians joined our newest editions to the Old Collegian community at the Valedictory Mass celebration on Friday 27 October at St Patrick's Cathedral. At the conclusion of very moving ceremony, they took in the beautiful spring evening to stroll to the Imperial Hotel to enjoy a relaxed dinner and catch up together.

Saturday night's MCCA Gala Ball was a huge success. A big thank you to Teresa Michelangeli and the rest of the Marcellin College Community Association for organising this event, as well as a big thank you to sponsors: Isola, Jellis Craig, Chemist Warehouse, Refine Body, and Carbone Master Tailors for making this event possible.
