A sun ball failed to find Ezequiel Carrera's glove. Dents appeared in Roberto Osuna's armour. And the Blue Jays left a lot of runners on base. You can figure out how this one ended.
Ultimately, the critical play of the game came on a routine fly ball that Ezequiel Carrera could not see when he looked up into that sun

Josh Donaldson, whose dramatic walkoff homer lifted the Blue Jays to a 10-9 win, has come as advertised, and then some.
Everybody around the team talks about Donaldson’s upbeat intensity. Is it a product of nature or nurture? A little of both, he said

The much-maligned Blue Jays' rotation has begun to suggest it is emerging from a long funk. Drew Hutchison's shutout is the latest sign.
Over the past seven games, the light switched on for Toronto’s rotation and the starters have posted a 2.86 ERA over that stretch

For more than a month, Jose Bautista has been unable to throw. His murky status muddles the bigger picture for the stumbling Blue Jays.
Since April 21, when Bautista made an ill-advised throw trying to nail a Baltimore runner at first base, he has been unable to play right field

Marcus Stroman was dejected in March when a freak injury ruined his season. His bad mood did not last long.
Marcus Stroman is a walking, talking silver lining, so unlike most athletes, he can turn season-ending surgery into a sunbeam

Roberto Osuna was ready for a day off. Aaron Loup was contemplating his lofty ERA. It was been a challenging season so far for the Blue Jays' bullpen.
Toronto starters were averaging 5.53 innings, leaving an arduous workload for the bullpen, and making it difficult to assume clearly defined roles

"I got to be  baseball player today,: a smiling Devon Travis said. Which meant he was back on the field, able to practice, his ailing shoulder making progress toward recovery.
Devon Travis wakes up each morning and pumps his left fist. It is a pain test, a small exertion to help him assess his recovery

No pain, significant gain after cortisone shot, Jose Bautista says. If all goes well, he believes he can be ready to play right field for the Blue Jays in Washington next Monday.
If he continues to progress without pain, he said he believes he can be ready to play right field when the Jays play in Washington on Monday

Jose Bautista received a cortisone shot, hoping to calm the inflammation in his throwing shoulder. The Blue Jays hope he will be able to return to right field in time for their series in an NL park. But no one can be sure.
Before receiving the injection, Bautista said he experienced 'throbbing pain' at night and needed pain-killers to get to sleep

Chris Colabello has been a hitting machine since his promotion from the minors. But he is an uncomfortable outfielder, and that has hurt the Blue Jays in two straight games.
He hit a home run and finished the day batting .379. But for the second game in a row, Chris Colabello was deservedly dejected about his defence

Steve Delabar threw a critical pitch that turned a potential Blue Jays victory into defeat against the Angels. Would he throw that pitch in that situation again?

Steve Tolleson has always been a reservist in the big leagues, but he has become a contributor in the Blue Jays' lineup as a fill-in for the injured Devon Travis. Echoing Josh Donaldson, he is also urging his teammates to boost their energy level.
