http://www.wjtv.com/story/23518836/senators-introduce-adoption-information-act

An Act is being introduced to provide more information on Adoption for both birthparents and adoptive parents for certain grant recipients. One of my favorite quotes from the article "More can be done to make information available to those seeking services and to ensure that each family makes an informed decision." Sen. John Thune. If you or someone you know ever has any questions, our office is here to help through any stage of the process.

Our office primarily focuses in domestic adoption. However, one of the truly amazing things about adoption is it's global acceptance! Countries are able to unite around the common goal of encouraging family formation and stability notwithstanding disagreements between them in other areas. Here is a look at international adoptions from 2012, it may take a minute or two to understand the tables but well worth it. What stands out most to you?

What were the surrounding circumstances that last caused you to think about adoption?

"It has been said that adoption is more like a marriage than a birth: two (or more) individuals, each with their own unique mix of needs, patterns, and genetic history, coming together with love, hope, and commitment for a joint future. You become a family not because you share the same genes, but because you share love for each other." -anonymous adoptive parent

As a follow up to a previous post: the critics of the policy state it well "although it was designed to punish the United States, it punishes Russian orphans more." Although Putin may have good reasons for the larger act behind this legislation, it stands as an example that public policy has the power to effect real, beneficial implementations (as shown in the overwhelmingly positive impact international adoption has historically) and also the power to skew a good for many (orphans and adoptive parents alike) as demonstrated in this current instance. We hope this freeze on the ban continues. http://www2.tbo.com/news/nation-world/2013/jan/11/namaino4-russia-delays-adoption-freeze-ar-603646/
