If you like meat, you will love it here. You can smell the meat from blocks away. They have a menu that changes periodically but the best meat is the brisket. Their version is probably as close to real Texan brisket as it gets in NYC. It gets really crowded for dinner at night so the best time to go is at 12pm when they open for lunch. There's less people so you can actually get a picnic table.

Order: pork belly, beef brisket, pork sausage & baked beans. I loved the pork belly and baked beans the most. But everything is really tasty.

I've been to my fair share of Stephen Starr restaurants in Philly and DC but I can't say I have had a memorable experience in one until now. Their meat selection is dry rubbed and smoked in-house. We ordered a rack of St. Louis ribs, a pound and half of beef brisket, and a pound of pulled pork shoulder. I prefer fattier cuts when it comes to my BBQ as I find them to be more flavorful. I also enjoy the charred edges. So if you have similar tastes, then you would love this place. Unfortunately, we got there a bit late and they were already out of the pork belly, but I will be going back. Great place for a chill, guys night out!

I love the food here so this rating is on customer service. We came with bikes last Sunday and they had just opened at 2.30pm (normal hours are noon during weekends). We did not bring a lock for our bikes and was refused to put the bikes along the wall inside the gate so we could watch them. There were 2 other customers there when we arrived so not exactly crowded.

I had way too high hopes for Fette Sau. My sister had been raving about it for months. The decor is pretty sweet. It's rustic yet inviting. Saturday night we made a ridiculous line for some brisket, pulled pork, and pork belly. Of the three, the pulled pork was my favorite. The pork belly had just enough fat and real lean meat but it just didnt do it for me. The brisket was missing something. It didnt matter how much BBQ sauce i dumped on it - the flavors werent there. Speaking of BBQ sauces... this one let me down big time. It's homemade and therefore not like the packaged junk that we buy, but it was a miss for me. The broccoli salad and burnt end beans was another let down. The only thing i loved was the beer. Sorry! Give it a try for yourselves. 3 stars because it's a decent place. Like I said - my sister raves about this place. I was let down but to each their own.

I absolutely love this place. The pork shoulder and belly, the beef ribs, the sausage and the beans are all absurdly awesome, as are the beer and whiskey selection.
