I wrote up my experience with Wolfenstein: The New Order at PAX East for Ars Technica.

Short version: It was fucking HARSH.
A blend of the satisfying old and the terrifying new.

I published my next piece on GamesBeat today, about the importance of social networking on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Microsoft and Sony's ability to attract and hold an online audience is going to be more important than any other factor in determining who gets the larger installed base for their console.

My write up for GamesBeat about my time with the beta for The Elder Scrolls Online.

Never has a headline come to me so easily. Simple, but accurate.

Hearing my name in this Polygon speed run video, AND that my last name was pronounced correctly, are both good and weird.

My story for Ars Technica about "This War Of Mine," based in part on RL accounts of survivors of the wars in Sarajevo, Kosovo, Libya, and Syria.
Looking at war as a civilian rather than a soldier means facing hard truths.

I wrote another thing for our local NPR affiliate, WBUR, about the announcement today that Irrational Games was "winding down," ostensibly to a close, and the ramifications on Boston's game development community.

Published my second opinion piece on Polygon yesterday. This one's about "When being an asshole is a game mechanic." That was the original headline I proposed. Of course they couldn't roll with that, but it still makes for a funny picture in my mind.

Speaking of funny pictures, that shot at the top is my Grand Theft Auto: Online character taking a selfie on his smartphone in front of a car he'd just exploded. I had to spend 48 hours locked on a Bad Sport server, trapped only with other Bad Sports and unable to play GTA:O with any of my friends, for blowing up too many players' cars.

I still blow up other peoples' cars, but I'm smarter about it so as to stay under whatever algorithm decides when I go to Bad Sport jail for it. :)

When WBUR asked me to write an end-of-year video game roundup, I wasn't sure what to do, because I don't feel like I played enough games that were released this year.

I chose to write about the new games I simply had to make time for in 2013. That's the best measure I have for the games I felt were important this year.

Could only get to 7 games, though. I know there's stuff I missed, but I can only speak to what I actually played. Like I said, it wasn't enough. :(

Published my first piece on Polygon today, an op-ed about Battlefield 4, how the development studio DICE has had their eye off the ball for years regarding what makes the game special, and how this has, yet again, resulted in a broken game which still isn't working properly, over a month after the game was released.
