I try to support plants with natural materials whenever possible, whether its runner beans, sweet peas or border perennials. I've had lots of fun creating a woven trellis for my sweet peas with the cobnut ( a type of hazel) prunings that I collected last week. It's something I've never done ...

Our hillside garden has high walls and many tall plants so there is quite a lot of what the Health & Safety people term 'working at height' involved in its maintenance – and seldom on level ground. After far too long risking life and limb, I've finally invested in the ultimate ladder.

Introduction
I am the contributing gardens editor for the UK edition of Country Living magazine and blog independently as The Enduring Gardener.  I also write freelance features  for several other garden titles. When not sitting in front of the computer I spend most of my time working outside in the garden which could best be described as abundant and overflowing!
