Does your kitty go for annual wellness exams?

This study examined 1,197 cats who appeared outwardly healthy. The findings may surprise you.

"The laboratory testing revealed that 25 percent of the 1,197 cats displayed abnormalities that may have been signs of anything from kidney or liver disease to inflammation or infection to hyperthyroidism or a blood disorder."

Wonder how much of this ill health can be traced back to a hard-to-digest and nutritionally substandard diet? http://ow.ly/CbrhE
Tests and pet owner input show that many cats may not be as healthy as they appear.

It's surprising to me how many people still don't understand the real reasons behind scratching behavior in cats. This is, in fact, one of CatCentric's hot button topics - cats do not scratch just to be destructive. Honest!

Ever see a feral cat or two in your neighborhood and wonder what you can do to help? Although true ferals can make good indoor pets, most of them are actually very happy to remain free-roaming. Stray or feral, however, they all appreciate a spot of kindness and support, especially during winter months.

Here's what you can do for them!

Socializing feral cats can be a long, difficult process, but it can also be well worth the effort. In this article you can learn what steps to take to help make a feral cat's transition to indoor living a bit easier on her. "It's all about trust." http://ow.ly/Cbq8a

Feline nutrition, general health, and behavior: Better lives through better care!
Introduction
This is the official Google+ page of www.CatCentric.org.

Our goal is to keep cats in their homes longer by educating cat parents about their unique nutritional and behavioral aspects. We answer questions about diet choices, food-related diseases (IBD), litter box avoidance, biting and much more!

MISSION

Cats are complex, fascinating creatures with unique and often misunderstood behavior patterns and physiological needs. CatCentric’s mission is to promote awareness of these needs and to be a leading resource for anyone seeking a better understanding of feline care, with a special focus on their nutritional and behavioral requirements.

Through written material, seminars, consultations and partnering with other organizations, CatCentric is dedicated to educating the public on the benefits, techniques, and issues associated with feeding cats a raw, prey-based, species-appropriate diet.

CatCentric’s education and awareness campaigns also focus on promoting an understanding of feline behavior and motivations. Our goal is to improve overall feline care, reduce conflicts, and strengthen the feline / owner bond.

You can participate in more interactive and in-depth discussions on feline nutrition, general care and behavior by joining our FB Group: www.facebook.com/groups/CatCentric!
