Badgered
It has been a while, my old Blogger friend. But, I am back. At least for now. Since completing H800, I have graduated with a Masters in Education degree from The Open University. The logical nest step? A Doctorate. Yes, I have applied for and been granted a...

Week 23 Activity 3
This activity requires answers to a lot of questions, so I'm going to put them in a post here rather than clogging up the Tutor Group Forum! One thing I have really begun to appreciate during H800 is that Technology Enhanced Learning is complex, messy and e...

Week 21/22
Time is marching on. TMA03 has been submitted, so there is only 1 TMA to go before the BIG final assignment.

It has been a while since I blogged here about H800, and by the looks of it, I'm not the only one that has been too busy elsewhere to post.

H800 so far....
H800 had a slow start for me. I was very enthused for the first couple of weeks, and then work commitments took over for a few weeks. That led to a situation where I had to almost cram for the first assignment. Luckily, I have already completed the E891 Edu...

Hi. Just wondering what techniques people are using for taking attendance of a large class? One of my classes this year is not massive, but there are about 80 students in it. I want to take an attendance at each class (one a week) and so far I've done this by way of a roll call. It works, but it's time consuming. I'm looking for a way to get the students to automatically check-in, or at least to make gathering the data quicker for me if they aren't doing it themselves. I can't make the assumption that they all have smartphones, so forcing an app on them might not be fair. Something web-based might work. Or SMS based as long as it's free! Another solution might be some sort of scanner for my device that could read the bar code on their Student ID Card and log their presence onto something like a spreadsheet. I don't mind a solution that requires a bit of time for me to initially set up, but it must be something that speeds up the weekly roll call. Any ideas?
