"9Round... What a concept! It’s like working out for dummies. I show up at the time I want (not at the time that I have to sign up for), and I am instructed and shown - or I like to say - I am told what to do - in quite a nice way by the best personal trainers. So much easier than going to a big box gym and being so unmotivated that I don’t do enough or don’t want to go back. I decided to incorporate my most important value of taking care of myself (after not doing this for a while) through eating well and working out and I even lost 18 pounds. I haven’t veered from working out at least three times a week since I joined and I feel so much better - not about losing weight necessarily, although it’s great, but about taking care of ME. Oh and most of the folks are younger than me, but I can keep up just fine at my age! Love it!" -Jo G, 9Round Member

Did you know that besides just being great for your body, exercise can actually help prevent and reduce the effects of depression? This year, #WorldHealthDay is focused on fighting depression, which affects people of all ages, from all walks of life, in all countries. We wanted to impart a few bits of knowledge about how regular exercise can help those struggling with depression.

According to the Mayo Clinic, regular exercise can help ease depression in a number of ways, which may include:
- Releasing feel-good brain chemicals that may ease depression (neurotransmitters, endorphins and endocannabinoids)
- Reducing immune system chemicals that can worsen depression
- Increasing body temperature, which may have calming effects

If you're feeling the blues, exercise may be a great way to lessen the effects of depression and empower you! If you'd like to check out 9Round, schedule your FREE session at http://bit.ly/2j6r8LQ

Often times, people lose steam a few weeks after starting a new fitness regimen and struggle to stay motivated. Does this sound like you? If so, here are some tips to help you out!

1. Set a goal. Goals give you something to work toward and something to celebrate-- but make sure they are realistic with clear milestones so you can track your successes.

2. Get a workout buddy. Having a friend to exercise with makes you more apt to stick to your plan.

3. Create a schedule. Make sure that you pick a time that fits into your schedule and don't cancel! Soon enough, it will just become a part of your daily habit.

4. Treat yourself. When you meet a goal, reward yourself. New fitness clothes, spa day, or a night out with your friends are well-deserved!

5. Hang a calendar. Put your calendar in an obvious spot and mark the days you don't work out with a big red X. If you skip a few days, you'll have those Xs staring back at you.

6. Make a high-energy playlist. Luckily, at 9Round, we have this covered for you with great music from RockBot! You can even request songs at some locations -- ask your 9Round trainer!

7. Positive self-talk. Simple motivating sentences, voicing your goals to yourself, or remembering your reasons for your fitness plan can really give you the push you need to get through a tough workout.

8. Take before & after photos. Nothing will encourage you more than seeing the changes you've made over time.

9. Fun & variety. No one wants to do the same thing day in and day out. Changing up the routine is a great idea and is best to keep your muscles guessing.

At 9Round, we help employ all these tactics to keep your workouts exciting. Come check us out if you haven't already!

If there's one thing we know for sure, it's that excuses WILL NOT get you in shape! Time and time again, people use these three excuses as their reason for not getting their health on track or keeping up their fitness routine, so we've solved these problems for you:

1. "I have no time" -- A 9Round workout is ONLY 30 minutes... if you can't make 30 minutes in your day for yourself, you should really reevaluate your priorities! Bettering yourself is the best way to improve your life.

2. "I don't know where to start" -- A trainer will be with you every step of the way every single time to help you from the minute you walk in the door until the minute you leave. You CAN do this and we'll provide you the proper guidance to make sure you're doing it right!

3. "I'm too tired" -- Did you know that exercise and eating properly actually boosts your energy? We know it's hard to get into the gym after a long day, so we promise 9Round will be a fun and exciting environment... you just have to get yourself there! You'll be amazed how much more energized you feel when you're finished.

If you haven't already, give us a try. We know you won't regret it!
