Ever wondered how to determine the visual focal length for a prime lens before attaching it to your camera? So did we, and through some discovery, we came up with a great way to help you determine frame width using your hands. Our recent blog post includes charts and visuals for Canon APS-C and Full Frame cameras. Go check it out.

What is in the Camera Bag for HDSLR Video? I travel pretty light since I walk to most of my filming locations. Here is a link to our recent Blog post and video showing what I have in my camera bag before heading out to test some lenses.

Comparison video footage of the tested lenses coming as soon as time allows.

Please share if you find it informative or interesting: http://www.dslrsolutions.net/3253/what-is-in-the-camera-bag-for-hdslr-video/

What is in my camera bag for a video outing? A peek inside my camera bag before I head out to do some lens testing (Takumar vs. Canon) on a cold day. I am traveling on foot and thought you may find it interesting what I chose to include in my bag for this outing.

Did a few studio tests with two dollar bills serving as the resolution chart and the Canon lenses (50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8) resolve more detail than the older Takumar lenses (50mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.9). That said, I still prefer the look as feel of the of the older Takumar lenses.

The Takumar lenses just have a nicer overall look for video, not to mention how great the focus rings are! Here is another shot from our outside testing a few days ago. Video review coming soon, but free time it pretty tight at the moment.

I always have fun taking out the old cameras and soaking up their creative designs and meticulous craftsmanship. Before the Retina iPad and iPhone, Kodak had a camera called the Retina. The first model of the Retina was crafted in 1934. And here is a studio shot I took today of the Kodak Retina 1B which dates to around 1957-1960. Enjoy!
