I was in town visiting family, having flown in from California. During the trip, I drove three hours to Upstate NY to see some of my wife's family. Coming back to NJ, I forgot my dog's daily medications. :-( Being that it was New Year's Eve, I was thrilled that Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital was open, willing to see me, and able to fill my dog's prescriptions. The young woman who answered the phone was absolutely wonderful, checking with the vets while I held to be sure they could help me. After a basic exam and looking at his history and paperwork, the doctor was able to give me enough of the necessary pills to get me back to California. The office was clean and well organized. All of the employees were incredibly sweet and attentive, I was seen right on time, the doctor was knowledgeable and helpful, the veterinary technician was really nice and good with my dog, and Joan had a great report with my dog in just seconds! Also, there were treats for my dog's good behavior. I remember being a kid, loving the doctor giving me a lollipop after my appointment. My dog is no different. If you need a new vet, definitely have a look at Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital!

All the Doctors and support staff are caring and thorough in their approach. I have been taking my cats and dogs to RVH for nineteen years and wouldn't think of trusting anyone or anywhere else with their care.

Clearly the best hospital to take your bird. Dogs, cats, exotics and anything else will be given top notch treatment, but you need AWESOME to treat a bird. These people are AWESOME. The experience of the staff is unparalleled. And they are really nice! Dr. Cerf (either one!) is THE BEST ANYWHERE. Don't go anywhere else. I have been going here since around 1985 with an assortment of critters. This practice just keeps getting better and better. They have even modified their hours to make anybody happy! You will be happy you chose this hospital. After reading the other reviews I have to comment: If you have to wait a few minutes past your appointment time, you can be sure it was because of an emergency admittance or some other need that had to be met (If not a LATE client that got the schedule messed up). Rest assured YOU will get thorough treatment, even if YOUR appointment is the one that runs over because of YOUR extra needs. Everyone gets what they need. They schedule lots of time during the day to cover for unforeseen things. For anyone who thinks they are expensive... I can name WAY more expensive places. I have often NOT been given "every test known to man", because of the experience of the Doctors. An emergency admission is going to cost you extra anywhere. Their charges are WAY less than a few places I could name off the top of my head (and you will be getting GOOD care). You are in charge and can always request less treatment. Some things truly have become standard because they are the safest way to go. Getting a heart test done on an elderly dog before going under general anesthesia is something that comes to mind. Some things you just have to know. Come here if you want the best care, but don't be afraid to mention if you can't afford certain treatment. These people really care about you and your critters. I call THEM my family doctor.

I recently moved to Midland Park and needed to switch my vet. Dr. Healy was the most wonderful doctor I've ever encountered in the 16 years I've had my cat. So thorough and took her time during the visit. I was also greeted by someone the minute I walked in and asked if I wanted coffee. Such an awesome place!

Our family has been so pleased with the doctors and support staff at Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital that I wanted to take time to share our experience. The doctors and support staff are extremely knowledgeable and kind hearted. After several visits with our sweet hound Nahla, we are also transferring the care of her special needs mastiff sister over to them as well. Great people!

Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital is an amazing facility, and my frisky kitty, Molly, has received exceptional care for the last 7 years. From the front desk staff, who greet us as if we are long lost friends, to the caring and friendly vet techs who help Molly get settled for her visit, to the amazing and compassionate medical team, you could not find a better level of care! I have visited both locations and have always been impressed with the level of care, concern and compassion! They treat your pet, but they treat the "pet parents" as well. Calming anxiety, fear or trepidation with wise counsel, humor when appropriate and a clear course of action when needed. Great staff, great facility, great results!

Dr. Dean Cerf is a weird combination of compassion and intelligence - a scientific mind where the gears are always turning, yet so kind to me and my dogs. Made himself available at all hours. Has a gift for explaining complex concepts in simple terms. The clinic is more than 2 hours away, but I'd go twice as far. Had three canine cancer surgeries there, and always felt as if I were the only client. State of the art technology. Super-sweet staff. More money, yes. But you get what you pay for.

Those who have pet birds know they can make great companions. Not only are many birds replete with beautiful colors, but their songs can really make a house come alive or their “human-like voices” can amuse us for hours. Like other kinds of pets, birds have unique needs. Birds are well known for being slow to exhibit signs of disease, and for this reason it is recommended that birds be taken to see an avian veterinarian at least twice each year. #veterinarians

This afternoon Oradell Animal Hospital sustained major damage when an MRI machine that was being repaired exploded. Thankfully no animals were injured.  So far eight dogs and one bird have been transferred to Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital, where Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital staff and doctors will assist Oradell Animal Hospital doctors in providing a safe and secure environment for the pets to continue their treatments. Please be understanding if it takes Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital staff a little longer to meet your expectations during this transition period. As always your pet’s health is of great concern to us. Our thoughts are with our friends at Oradell Animal Hospital today. We were happy to help with patients, and wish everyone a speedy recovery.
