Google is telling me that my ISP, Shaw, is the reason I'm seeing choppy YouTube.

The power button on my Galaxy Nexus failed, and I kinda crapped my pants because I have lots of priceless footage and photos on it of my little dude. This post saved me.

I learned two things from this. First, backing up photos from my phone has got to be a regular habit, perhaps more critical than backing up stuff from my laptop. Second, I will never, never, ever buy a device that only has integrated storage again. This is going to be hard to do, I realize, since that seems to be the industry trend these days, but this design flaw is way too blatant to get fooled again.

New Google Currents release has Listen-y features

Anyone else notice the new audio support in Google Currents? It's sort of back-handed podcast support, but not really.

Why does the goodreads app need to access my contact list or worse, my call log?

Google retiring Google Reader marks another step away from standards and open subscription media by the tech giant that looks less and less like the company many fell in love with only a few years ago. Google has no viable solution to support podcasts or other independent media syndication on any of its platforms after this. No, posting on a "social network" doesn't cut it.

Remember when "Google" was synonymous with "high-performance web services?" I do. I remember when I switched from Altavista to Google search and I really felt Google was more responsive.

Lately, I've been finding Google's services sluggish. Search results seem to be slowing down noticeably. They still claim ~0.25 seconds to get my results, but the page feels like it's taking longer to load. YouTube lags constantly.

Is Google's focus on apps and cloud services sacrificing their reputation for performance excellence?

Just had a realization that I can flip through high-quality photos from another planet as easily as I might flip through family photos or the latest celebrity gossip. I think we've all been doing that for a while, now, but the significance of this -- the gargantuan implications of this -- just struck me full in the face. And now I have a headache.

Hey, cyclist friends, is this something you would want to try? Looks snazzy to me.

Got Jelly Bean on my phone over the weekend. Once again, keyboard is all messed up. Punctuation is a nightmare. Why do they revamp the thing every time?
