I'm starting to work on revising the research paper on academic blogging that I will be presenting at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research in March--here are some benefits I'd like to outline for blogging in undergraduate courses:

Blogs in academic courses:
Serve a fundamental "writing to learn" purpose, where students can get their ideas out there and think them through
Helps students take ownership of their ideas and build an online identity
Gives a more authentic audience and provides a means for communication and collaboration inside and outside the class.
Help students to realize that their ideas have value and that they can have real impact because of the means they have available to them in their technological world.

Any others I should consider?
