The self-proclaimed "inventor of cheesesteak" offers classic versions of Philly's favorite sandwich.- Google
"The provolone was put in under the steak but it never really melted with it."
"It's where out-of-towners go to try an old fashioned steak sandwich."

I had went to pats for the first time years ago cause I was sick of steak-umms "philly"cheese steaks sold in NY.. the taste 10x better. And as far as the staff being rude. They have people expecting a 5 star dining experience @ a outdoor eatery, one guy even asked for a knife and fork. Like the guy behind the counter answered back "this is south philly u ask in to much"

Yeah go to say you've been bit don't expect a great steak. Better than Geno's but that's not saying a lot. Service was better too.

Epic. Life changing. Exhilarating. Eating a Pat's Cheese Steak with Cheese Wiz is like dying and going to heaven. Why even bother going to Geno's... that would be truly un-American! Oh, but may avoid Pat's King of Steaks at night. You did watch the intro to Fresh Prince right?

I ate at Pat's some time ago with some friends. It was a nice warm day so the outside seating and atmosphere was good. The philly sandwich was good but not really great. I'm not a fan of Cheeze wiz, even though that seems to be a popular component of these sandwiches. Overall it was a good lunch and I'd probably go there again if friends wanted to go, but if the choice is mine, I'd likely find something else.

Umm, Pat's is not a one star restaurant, it's a five star joint considering how delicious and fresh the food is. Only fresh (never frozen), high grade (for the price) beef is used - as well as fresh rolls and scrumptious cheeses and other toppings. Pat's cheesesteaks are grilled to perfection by true pros. I used to be a chef at an expensive restaurant, so it has hard to impress me. Pat's staff is a bit rude, but this is South Philly after all. Service is fast and reliable. The only other cheesesteak joint that I consistently like is Joe's (formerly Chink's). These are $9 cheesesteak joints, not $200-per-plate Gordon Ramsey restaurants, so get over your petty gripes about the service. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the bad reviews were written by other steak shops.

If dragged to the tourist steak shops, then I will choose Pat's over Geno's. Not to say that I haven't skipped a long line at one to go grab a steak at the other while my friends wait. Otherwise, I have other favorite steak places at the moment.

The cheese steak was a small 8", greasy, all for $9.50 for the "King of Steaks" I am very disappointed. "We have no pickles.. we have no lettuce" -My local joints are better than this world known spot.
