“How could you not love living in New Mexico!”
Years of experience. Dozens of sources. And, an intimate knowledge of New Mexico, it’s people, communities and stories.
Nancy Laflin is back home at KOAT Action 7 News, her first TV job after graduating from the University of New Mexico. She started as an associate producer and part-time reporter for New Mexico’s number one station. Nancy developed her skills as a tenacious, story-driven reporter at TV stations across the southwest including Corpus Christi, Texas and San Antonio.
Her career eventually lead her back to New Mexico, where she returned to Action 7 News. After a job with the state of New Mexico, she returned to television, and now has returned to KOAT.
An award-winning journalist, she has been honored by the New Mexico Broadcasters Association, the New Mexico Associated Press and the Texas Associated Press for her outstanding breaking news coverage over multiple stories. She voiced a documentary that won a Rocky Mountain Emmy in 2010. She has reported nationally for CNN and ABC. In 2000, she was one of only a small number of journalists to land one-on-one interviews with then-Vice-President Al Gore and George W. Bush during the presidential election.
Her years in television and in New Mexico give her a unique perspective on the state and the people who call it home. Nancy’s long list of sources lead her to stories well off the beaten path, and give her the ability to uncover corruption and abuse in all corners of the state. She will hold those in power responsible and get the answers New Mexicans deserve. Whether it’s miss-spent tax dollars, bribes or down-right negligence among elected officials, Nancy is just the reporter to track down the truth for New Mexico.
