Harvest
I picked two half- bushel baskets. Yellow trasparents are the best apples for pies, in my opinion.  Plus they always remind me of my childhood, climbing the apple tree in my grandmother's yard.  Not sure if I will have time t...

Apples We have an orchard. It was a long journey, and I am still on the road.  We have an orchard and yet, I do not manage the orchard. I am 57 years old, and it is still an orchard dream.   I dreamed of having an orchard w...

Life lessons in machine knitting
1.  Light is good.  More light is better.  Even though it was mid-afternoon, it is a little dark in the basement workroom.  Moving a light closer to the knitting machine made it much easier to pick up dropped stitches, count,...

My KH-864 carriage must have been damaged in transit (or maybe while packing it) last time I took it out for a demonstration.  When I was running the needles across the bed, they made a "clacking" sound when needles were in u...

KH-930 fails
It has been some time since trying to knit on a KH930 (like more than 5 years) and although I was proficient at one time I quickly learned last night that I have forgotten quite a few tricks of the trade.  For example, I noti...

Giving myself a pat on the back.
I submitted my package for level 1 Master Machine Knitter, and yesterday I received it back.  I am thrilled to report that I passed and  I did not have to re-submit anything!  The judge, Uyvonne Bigham, sent along a personal ...

It has come to my attention that there is confusion about these two stitches. It seems that some people understand Seed Stitch to be the same as Moss stitch.  Other people think that Moss stitch is a different stitch than see...

Got a do-over on my yarn swatches this week!
I knitted, blocked, tagged, and wove in the ends on five swatches last week.  As I was measuring the gauge to compare them to a reference swatch of fairisle, I realized that on two of them, I had inadvertently forgotten to re...

Oh my goodness. On the way to the Masters, TKGA Machine Knitting Level 1
I finished swatch 3 last night, steamed it tonight after work.  Then poked around the house for a while, organizing more class material from classes I have taken over the years, putting the handouts in a page protector and in...

Introduction

I'm an information technology specialist working in the automotive materials management field.  I support computer systems that communicate with material handlers using Wi-Fi and bar code scanning and labeling systems.

In my spare time I'm a Master Gardener volunteer,  and love fiber arts, especially high-tech fiber arts like machine embroidery and knitting machines. Happily, contentedly, blissfully married, and I love my 3 grandsons and their parents.

The restaurant, which we chose based on other reviews, was difficult to find due to signage. Both the Japanese restaurant Shogun and the Chinese Restaurant Dragon Phoenix exist at the same location, but signage at the location only indicates Shogun. Once we found it , service was excellent. I have a hip problem and could not sit in the booth they initially directed us to, but no problem to re-route to a table in another waitress station. The waitress gave us time to chooses from extensive menu, but not excessively. Once we laid the menus down she was there to take our order. The food arrived very fresh and hot, the hot and sour soup ($1.00 extra) had several tiny shirmp in it, the meal, when it arrived was plentiful (we both had enough for lunch the next day) The food was excellent, the service had no issues, and the price compared to other restaurants on Hall Road.
