Ceramic tile is fired at lower temperatures and is fairly porous. Not as durable as porcelain tile, it has a more natural, rough-hewn look.

Porcelain tile is fired at high temperatures, giving it a rich palette that is often hard to distinguish from natural stone. It is very durable, often used in entryways, on countertops, and outdoors.

Natural Stone tiles can be beautiful, but as a natural product they are less uniform in color and pattern. Some are very slippery when wet and can be stained by spilled liquids, so be careful and pay special attention to the application when selecting natural stone.

Carpet Materials
Plush carpet is usually one color with a smooth, even pile height. It is the most popular style used in homes, condos and apartments, and the nylon cleans easily and wears well.

Textured Plush carpeting often has more than one color, with varying heights which reduce footprints and vacuum marks.

Frieze carpet has tightly twisted tufts and wears very well. Often used in heavy traffic areas, it doesn't show footprint and vacuum marks as much as a plush, and is typically more expensive.

Berber (looped) carpeting has elegant, looped tufts aligned in rows for a clean, uniform look. Carpet with smaller loops gets the best wear, and berber is not recommended with children or pets, as snags and runs are difficult to repair.

Cut Pile Berber carpet is not really a berber, as it doesn't have loops. It's similar in appearance to a plush style, but has a multicolored a speckled look with the main color usually lighter, and darker flecks of color throughout.

"Magic Hardwood came to our home for a laminate floor and baseboard install today. They called in advance to let us know they were on the way, showed up shortly thereafter, then did a walkthrough of the project. Attention to detail was an important part of the baseboard installation, as extra cuts were needed. The final product was far more than just satisfactory, and my wife loves it!"

Granite counters are near diamond-hard and non-porous, resisting heat, scratches, stains, mold and mildew, making them ideal for kitchens and baths. And granite's vivid natural color palette offers a nearly endless pattern of veins, specks and swirls.
