gorgeous!

'Tunnel of Love' is a Passageway for Trains and Lovers in Ukraine.

The tunnel was made over many years as the passing train molded the trees’ lines. The train turned a luscious piece of woodland into a unique passageway as it traveled back and forth 3 times a day over several years.

In addition to serving as a train route, the tunnel is used by lovers to make a wish – it is said that if they are sincere in their love, their wishes will come true. If you are out and about Ukraine, don’t miss this fantastic green passageway – whether you are with a loved one, or on your own.

Everyone here was so helpful and friendly! It's never hard to find a store associate to ask a question; in fact, they usually find you. Even when the line is long, they have a good system to keep things moving and the $15 "Anywhere in Manhattan" home delivery service is a life-saver!!!

Apple Tree Supermarket
1225 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10027
Coming from the suburbs, you might find this supermarket a little cramped and disorganized. However, they have a great selection of health foods and vegetarian/vegan delights if you can find them. A lot of the products don't have prices on them so you may be a little surprised when you hear your total at the check-out counter. I don't plan to frequent this grocery store because the prices are way too high ($6 for a 1 lb. bag of Jasmine rice - sheesh!) and my little fold-able shopping cart is still too big for aisles.

Ollie's Restaurant
2957 Broadway, Manhattan, New York 10025
I ordered delivery from Ollie's - an order of Curry Flavored Vegetable Fried Rice (pretty tasty), Egg Drop Soup (also pretty good), and a Thai Iced Tea (which was disappointingly pre-packaged). I was very satisfied with the food and the price I paid for it - and the employee on the phone was very particular about getting my address, order, and phone number right (she repeated it back to me quite a few times). I would be overall impressed with Ollie's if it hadn't been for the very rude delivery person.
After already paying the delivery fee (which was included in my total bill), I didn't bother to tip the deliveryman. Instead of politely explaining to me what the problem was, he proceeded to yell at me (in a foreign language) and repeat the total in broken English. I'm not knocking him for the language barrier, but he sounded so loud and angry that my neighbor-down-the-hall poked his head outside to see what was going on. I eventually gave him $2....

I may try to order from this place again; however, if the rudeness continues I will be forced to throw their menu in the trash.

Golden Nails
2901 Broadway, New York, NY 10025
Despite the not-so-favorable reviews, I decided to take a chance on Golden Nails because it was close-by. Luckily, I was not disappointed. I went in on a Saturday at 1pm (expecting it to be busy) but got sat right away. I got a mani/pedi ($33) and the nail tech did a wonderful job. The other employees were very polite and they have a plethora of colors to choose from. The front of the salon is clean and conservatively decorated with original artwork (although I can't speak for the back where they do waxing/massages/etc.) Also, it is located in a particularly nice part of the Morningside Heights neighborhood - if you are concerned about safety and/or nearby restaurants. Though they don't have a student discount, web research tells me that they have a $22 mani/pedi special on Mondays and Tuesdays. I am delighted with the work they did and plan to go back again.
