One of my favorite courses to play in the Denver area. The value of the rates are hard to beat and each time I play the course, it is in great condition. They space the tee times well so I've yet to have a real issue with the play backing up on the course. It is a long course and can play very difficult because of the slopes of the greens but it is a great course for the price. I can't comment on the food as I have never had it but, so far, I have yet to have a bad experience at Thorncreek. EDIT: In my original post, you can see that I said I've never had a problem with play backing up on the course but that is no longer true. The last few times I've played/attempted to play the course, it bottlenecks so badly around the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th holes. It's ridiculous. It was very frustrating two times in particular when I asked the clubhouse how the course looked and they said basically no one is on the course except for a group about 30 minutes ahead. So I bought the round, played two holes, and hit the bottleneck where a group of 4 was on the tee box of 3, a group of 4 was on the green of 3, a group of 4 was on the tee box of 4, and a group of 4 were finishing up on 4. I'm going to keep it at 5 stars because I've had so many positive experiences, but right now, it's starting to slip.

It's a longish course, not great but good. Use matts at range year round. Waitress in clubhouse was pretty and friendly.

The golf shop staff were decent, but the customer service experience doesnt end at the golf shop. The starter on the tee was rude, and actually made fun of my group before we hit a shot, the marshall was in a constant state of irritation when we saw him on the course etc. For reference i play to a +2 hdcp and the guys I was playing with are a 5 and 7. There was a reason I had not played this course in several years and it will be several more before I go back again.

My husband and I enjoy golfing at Thorncreek because it is a challenging course and the staff are always professional and friendly. On Saturday we had an exceptional experience that we wanted to share. We enjoyed an early round of golf and decided to have lunch on the patio. Spencer runs the bar and grill and he is a great guy. My sister and brother in law joined us and we ordered The Philly Steak, The Club, The Pulled Pork and a Burger with Bacon and fried Jalapenos. Spencer took excellent care of us and after he served us our meal the only sounds at the table were all of us saying yum and oh my. Excellent lunch that we all highly recommend. After your round enjoy a meal, you won't regret it!

Getting a deal for less than $20 for 18 with a cart and having the luck of teeing off right after a tournament ended (which let me play in 3 hours) were my favorite parts of Thorncreek. The layout was interesting, but could use a bit more variety. More sprinkler heads need to be marked with yardage. The lumpy holes can turn a decent shot into a bad miss. I watched three shots miss the green by a yard and shoot 90 degrees to the side. The parts of the greens that were alive were in good shape and rolled pretty well, but they could use some help with people repairing more ball marks. As of 8/28/2013, the course was in very rough shape. Lots of dead grass, lots of circles in the fairway marking off GUR. some drainage problems and big burned off patches on some green. 2013's been a good summer for greening up a golf course, so . . . not sure if I'd want to see it in a bad summer. Between the lack of yardage markers and the fairways that can't be driven on at all, I could see how rounds could become very long on weekends. One other odd highlight - the bbq sandwich at the turn was delicious. Great onion rings and a huge sloppy sandwich. It's a huge mess to eat on the run, but if it's backed up, I highly recommend it! I'd come back to Thorncreek before I'd slog through a round at City Park or Applewood, but I'd much rather go to Legacy Ridge or Broadlands for a round on the north side of town.
