It is Scotland during the Scottish Reformation and times are getting ugly for the Catholics. With an English king on the throne, not an acre of Scotland is at peace.

Gordon, who has lived in America until he is a lad of ten, is alone to fight his Protestant uncle, who would be much more happy if his nephew would just switch sides. This is a fight where all are against him but those he doesn’t have contact with. Can he make it alone?

Fr. Peter Carota died recently. He was our "friend". He spent a week with our Latin Mass group here a few years ago. He had the type of personality that made you feel like you were his friend right from the start.
I have followed his blog, traditionalcatholicpriest.com. As a website person, it was exciting seeing his site raise in the rankings. He really was a great webmaster or the real Master of everything, God, made sure his pages were found.
The more I think of his passing the more I am sad and realize that a strong voice in defense of tradition and the family is gone. The apostles must have felt like this when Our Lady was assumed into heaven. She was gone, but still interceding for them. The gone part is hard.

Bee Jay just finished another novel. This time she shares a review for Fabiola:

Fabiola by Cardinal Nicholas Patrick Wiseman, sweeps the reader to the early Roman persecutions where martyrs shed their blood for the prosperity of the Church and for the conversion of sinners.

Their examples are outstanding and though they do not know it, the conversion of the proud Fabiola will someday be the fruit of their sufferings.

Hummingbirds are very fun to watch. We have noticed that after the hay is cut many come to our feeders.

We have a male Rufous Hummingbird which sits at the top of our house and watches all three feeders to make sure no other hummer is eating. If someone is a t his feeder he dives down, chases them away and returns to his rooftop. After a little research we found our that the "Rufous is the feistiest hummingbird in North America. They are relentless attackers at flowers and feeders, going after larger hummingbirds. They are pugnacious birds that tirelessly chase away other hummingbirds, even in places they’re only visiting on migration."

Despite his ruthless character we all really like him.
