MR. HOLLAND'S OPUS FOUNDATION
is a non-profit organization supporting under funded school music programs nationwide by donating musical instruments to help students achieve more and to inspire creativity and expression.

-

Sitting down with the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation team to discuss the project scope felt amazing because it embodied three aspects that we at ethosLA are passionate about: music, education and serving our communities. We took the website from being un-shareable, un-editable and un-viewable (from mobile) and built it on WordPress, created layouts for mobile device-specific browsers and added social sharing capabilities. Within WordPress, we employed a series of shortcodes, custom options and a robust page builder that gave MHOF complete control over their website. We also selected a vibrant and expressive color palette that captured the emotion of their mission and used this as the basis for creating a style guide, solidifying the MHOF brand to be used by organization partners and in house.

SAME GOD
is a documentary film about Larycia Hawkins, a policial science professor, who in response to harsh political rhetoric against Muslims in the U.S. donned a hijab as an act of embodied solidarity with Muslim women.

-

The Same God Film website is a great example of simple layouts and smooth transitions which focus the attention on the film and the story of one woman who stood up for a people group that most of her colleagues saw as a threat to their beliefs. We took powerful images from the film trailer and cloaked them in filters to compound the feeling of seriousness, created shortcodes to extend functionality while maintaining design structure, and developed a custom plugin that gave the Same God Film team complete control over how their content is shared across social media and directly from the website
