For high school completion, CVTC offers two options: the GED and HSED certificate. While both act as a substitute for a high school diploma, it’s your choice to decide which option is best for you.

The GED certificate is accepted by most employers, technical colleges, and community colleges. The HSED certificate is required by some employers, universities, and branches of the military.

Certificates are awarded to individuals who successfully complete testing in different areas. The GED covers four high school academic areas: Reasoning through Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematical Reasoning. While the HSED must pass the same tests, individuals must also meet three additional requirements: Health, Civic Literacy, and Employability Skills.

If you wish to complete your GED/HSED at CVTC, contact Adult Education Services at CVTC by calling 715-833-6400, or email at adultedservices@cvtc.edu.

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) benefits working adults who are interested in going back to school, and who may have knowledge and skills that directly relate to the program curriculum. These skills can include prior work or volunteer experiences, military training or through courses at other accredited institutions. CPL may enable a student to accelerate the completion of their educational goals.
