I have new respect for Sara Bareilles. Rather than just take part in some benefit concert that is as much about self promotion as helping a cause, she and some of the band actually went to the coast and spent several days doing real physical labor to help with the cleanup in Japan.

If you like a cappella, you have to listen to this version of Somebody that I used to know.  I haven't listened to everything on this album in depth yet, but I really love a few of the tracks!

My inner child must be near the surface today. I solved this in under 10 minutes.
Consider the question in the image above. I found this spreading on Facebook the other day and it took me a few minutes to solve. Go on. Try. (If you want to know the answer. It's at the end of the article.) More »

This is so cool! The map shows the current flow of wind across the US for the last hour. The flow is almost mesmerizing.

From vegetarian to seafood, everything we ordered was excellent! The carrot cake and 7 layer chocolate cake were also very good, and large enough that 3 of us couldn't finish the 2 pieces we shared.

Berry Good Pancakes : Blueberry pancakes with strawberry sauce were fantastic, if a tad pricey, but I'll be back for more. Friendly service and cheerful atmosphere.

I stumbled across this place this afternoon and saw that they had live jazz starting at 6:00 pm, so we decided to come back at 6. Boy am I glad we did. Dad had a Red Stallion beer which was excellent, as were our meals and desserts. The service was attentive without hovering, and the jazz was enjoyable too. In a neighborhood full of raucous tourist traps this was a wonderful find. I will be coming back.
