DPC Veterinary Hospital advocates the idea that the most effective way of house breaking your dog or puppy is pure diligence. The more times a dog potties outside and the less she potties inside the closer you are to a house-trained pet. The way to ensure that this happens is a combination of prevention, eagle-eye monitoring, and properly timed and executed trips outside. This may seem a little overwhelming, but the extra work now will pay off in the long run.

They say you can’t teach an old do a new trick but you can still find new ways to keep them healthy. An important way is having them properly vaccinated and practicing preventive health. Whether you are a first time dog owner or a more experienced one we will help to educate you on what your senior dog needs.

Our specially designed senior dog wellness packages can include an annual heartworm and fecal test to check for parasites. Your dog should also be on monthly heartworm prevention.

Our low-cost wellness packages make us a Fort Lauderdale area favorite. For more information, call our office today.

A common misconception is that indoor pets do not need to be treated for fleas, ticks and heartworm. It is absolutely crucial that every pet is on heartworm prevention. In Florida we have mosquitoes year-round. One mosquito bite is all it takes for your pet to be at risk of contracting heartworm. In addition to taking a monthly heartworm preventative, your pet should also be tested for heartworm disease annually by an experienced Florida veterinarian. This test is usually part of a yearly vaccination and wellness package.

As with heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention is also recommended on a monthly basis. We offer these products in both oral and topical form, and our veterinary staff is happy to discuss what combination of products best suits your pet's unique needs.
