The Victoria’s Secret catalog, that glossy through-the-door-slot compendium of impossibly perfect lingerie-clad feminine pulchritude, is apparently dead. News of its demise came during parent company Limited Brands’ May 20 earnings call, which noted that while annual catalog costs were in the $125 million to $150 million range, test eliminations of the catalog in key markets “saw a relatively small to no impact on sales.” Interestingly, in the fo...

After you're done with the lying-around-in-your-sweats phase, maybe you'll enter a lying-around-on-a-couch-made-out-of-recycled-sweatshirts phase.
Traditional efforts to reuse, repurpose and upcycle cast-off clothes into something worth selling has a tendency to result in a product not too far removed – in value or desirability – from the original discarded duds. That’s precisely why the recently unveiled high-end partnership between L.A.-based furniture maker Stephen Kenn and local menswear label Longjourney is so surprising – and covetable.

Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot recently honored retired Laker legend Kobe Bryant on Wednesday night at a private dinner in an art-filled $22 million Beverly Hills home, an evening that included an on-stage interview by sportscaster (and friend of the brand) Erin Andrews, a live snake, Dom Perignon Champagne and the unveiling of a limited-edition $20,400 timepiece with a black mamba design slithering across the face. What could possibly make the ...

If the first few months of 2016 have taught us anything, it’s that Beyonce knows the power of a fashion moment. Barely past the first quarter mark of the year and Queen Bey has managed to all but steal the Super Bowl halftime show (wearing DSQuarend2), launch an athleisure line pretty much out of nowhere (Ivy Park in partnership with Sir TK), play a baseball-bat-wielding goddess of vengeance in a surprise visual album (the album was "Lemonade," t...

When Hiltzik quotes Ferro as saying: "It is ungentlemanly, it is not what we do in this industry. It is not the way we do business," the mental image that comes to mind - at least for me -- is of two men dressed like something straight out of "Hamilton" slapping each other soundly with hastily removed opera gloves ...
Tribune Publishing Chairman Michael Ferro on Tuesday criticized Gannett Corp. for "trying to steal the company" by pressing for board acceptance of its $400-million takeover bid before the board has a chance to review Ferro's strategic plan for Tribune and before a June 2 shareholders' meeting....

Story
Tagline
Adam Tschorn makes a living wrangling words and stringing them together.
Introduction
Adam Tschorn is currently a staff writer at the Los Angeles Times where his coverage of fashion, style and popular culture most often appears online at All The Rage and in the hard copy of the Sunday Los Angeles Times Image section.

He's been covering menswear since 2004 and wearing it much, much longer than that. He holds a BA in philosophy and an MA in journalism, which has prepared him perfectly for watching fashion shows and asking: "Why?"
Bragging rights
Survived 30 Vermont winters, able to write authoritatively on the death of the man cave and avant-garde ballet (at the same time), knows the difference between a lectern and a podium, and where the cardigan sweater got its name.
