As we age, we become more like our parents and mine gave me an appreciation for “I Love Lucy,” the Beach Boys, county fairs and football. My mom is a Lucy fan and growing up, I remember watching reruns of the sitcom and falling in love with the funny redhead.

Luck was in my favor as I was visiting my parents the weekend of Aug. 6 which would have been the “I Love Lucy” star’s 105th birthday and her hometown of Celoron (about a 90-minute drive south of my parent’s Western New York home) was celebrating the occasion with the installation of a new bronze Lucille Ball sculpture to replace what has been dubbed “Scary Lucy.” http://solotravelgirl.com/visiting-the-i-love-lucy-statue-and-museum-in-jamestown-n-y/

During my trip to Ho Chi Minh City #Vietnam last week I met motorbike driver Mr. Tung who shared with me his four favorite songs by American artists. I'm not surprised with #1, are you? Enjoy! #travel

“If you could ask Jimmy Connors anything, what would it be?” was the question I asked Facebook friends. I was invited by the Boca Raton Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, for a weekend which included a reception with Jimmy Connors to launch the new resort package called, Legends of Boca Experience.

It’s not because I couldn’t think of my own questions but it’s because I wanted to see if there was anything out-of-the-box I could ask. Something no one else has asked him. And okay, I crowd-sourced the question because I was a bit lazy since I was a little short on time for proper research to find something really intriguing.
I received excellent questions regarding tennis and how the game has changed, how he trained for his comeback, best equipment, etc.

So, what did I ask him??? Find the answer in this blog post. #WaldorfMoments

“Pick them up like dog poop,” Jeff Fobb, Program Technician with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), told my class during the in-person training for the 2016 Python Challenge. He was referring to the technique of sticking your hand into the cotton bag and grabbing the Burmese python behind its jaws with the other hand then switch it to the bagged hand and pull it around the snake.

Free is a beautiful word in this single gal’s vocabulary and Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, is indeed, a gorgeous day for my budget. It’s National Public Lands Day AND Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live! which means free admission into national parks and select museums. If you’re looking to save on your budget yet not sacrifice a quality experience, Sept. 26 is the day for exploration whether you’re traveling away from home or playing tourist in your backyard. http://solotravelgirl.com/national-parks-select-museums-offer-free-admission-on-sept-26-2015/ #NPLD

You’ll think I’m a little batty with this random list of fun bits of trivia about the University of Coimbra. The visit was brief and was a stop during the Viking River Cruises’ Portugal’s River of Gold itinerary, a welcomed break on the drive between Lisbon and Porto. #vikingcruises #travel http://solotravelgirl.com/5-fun-bits-of-trivia-about-the-university-of-coimbra-portugal/
