This has to be the most underrated burger spot in Los Angeles. I can't even begin to understand how a restaurant like this one has less than four stars. Stunning burgers, well crafted cocktails, a nicely curated rotating beer list, and delicious sides and desserts (Adult Shakes!!). What else could you ask for? Want a $4 dollar burger? Go to In-and-Out. The entire staff could take turns insulting my family, and this would still be a 4.5 star restaurant. I'm not going to lie. There's a part of me that enjoys SO's current "under the radar" status. It certainly makes it easier to get a table on any given night, and the atmosphere is far more enjoyable than that of comparable spots. In fact, my better judgement wonders why I would even think to write this review. But here it goes. I can't say stress this enough: the burgers are out of this world, the meat is wonderfully sourced and seasoned, and the execution is second to none. Try Nancy's Backyard Burger, Medium Rare. Even their beef alternatives are delightful, most notably the Filet o' Fish. Sides: Truffled spuds or fries, truffle aioli. There's something remarkable about a beautifully conceived, and perfectly executed burger. I love Father's Office, Umami, Lazy Ox, and other well-known burger spots in LA. Short Order is up there with the best, and will likely always have a special place in my meat-loving heart. *Originally on Yelp! //samuelisaacs

I wasn't impressed. The service was a disaster the night I was there with one server (who was new) stressed out and running both the upstairs and downstairs seating areas. While this poor girl was running around frazzled, which made for a less than optimal experience, the manager was wondering around and looking at his phone. The burger was pretty good and they many toppings you could add, but the atmosphere was such a distraction it was hard to enjoy the food.

great service and staff. reasonable prices. food is delicious and lots of healthy options (sandwiches, cooked vegetables) besides just burgers and fries. nancy the manager and the rest of the staff treated us very well when we went. highly recommended.

Very tasty burger, tends to be on the rare side. They have Boylans soda, the patio upstairs is nice, music was very loud.

I went for cocktails & dessert, and I was not disappointed! I had the Breakfast with the Duke—rye, coffee liqueur, Irish whisky, mole bitters, and tobacco aromatics. Smooth, smoky, and slightly chocolatey (not too sweet!), like the Duke himself. My friends had a hot toddy and the slightly sweet Boulevardier (essentially a bourbon Negroni). We also split an ice cream sandwich from Short Order's bakers. It was everything you could ask of an ice cream sandwich: the sweet chocolate in classic chocolate chip cookies balanced by a delicate vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle. It's a pretty healthy portion—definitely enough for 2 or 3 people. We were there late Sunday evening, and there was room at the bar and the music was great. I'm sorry we ate dinner prior to coming, because the food smelled awesome! Full disclosure: I know the bartender/bar manager, but I'm pretty sure that did not mean I got anything but the standard (very good) service at the bar. Also, I've sampled his work before, when he was at Rivera downtown, and his drinks are consistently inventive, well-balanced, and delicious.
