This is Chinese generous investment for the people in Bangka — funny hypocrisy — China go home and steel the land from your own people but don't ruin our livelihood coz this land belongs to us! Stupid if you bribed Sulut government — we don't have anything from this money and we don't want your bloody money — feed your own greedy pigs if they eat money but get out of our country!

DIVEMAG #40 “Save Bangka North Sulawesi”
DIVE EVENT “EXPLORING VOLUNTEERISM”

DIVEMAG #40 “Save Bangka North Sulawesi”

DIVEMAG #40 was published first in July 2013 as a print version — 2 articles are online since Dec 2013. Thank you +Riyanni djangkaru for your excellent support!
Read: http://divemagindonesia.com/divemagindonesia/?paged=6

#SaveBangkaIsland

Mangrove experts urge restoration, regeneration of organic coasts

“When Ulva Takke heard that a foreign-owned firm planned to set up an iron ore mine on the tiny island of Bangka in the province of North Sulawesi, she joined forces with other residents in a protest that went all the way to Indonesia's supreme court.” #SaveBangkaIsland

Ahaahaahhaa hahaha wkwkwk — this is +Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s APEC CEO Summit Indonesia 2013 agenda from Bali last October ya: Allowing foreign investors to bring prosperity to Indonesian population on small islands with the help of heavy armed police! — Reality check means: Escorting foreign companies to rob the land of the indigenous and destroy their country — this does not look like a welcomed development nor improvement at all! Armed forces — Mr. Yang Yongjian: it looks like you need weapons to secure your personal interests. You promised to wait for a copy of the MA verdict from the Supreme Court, but now you brake your own word again! — It does not look like you had fruitful mutual talks with the local community either, the fishermen, their wifes, the +Coral Triangle Initiative Southeast Asia (CTI) or friends of Bangka and last but not least the dive operators on the island or the North Sulawesi Watersport Association and don't forget the future of the children! This is not your land — no matter how much you paid to the government of Sulut — this land belongs to the indigenous! If they said no, the have the right by the Indonesian Constitutional Law in multiple paragraphs to reject the mining on their small island in total! And it should be self speaking that Indonesian politicians respect the Constitutional Law of their country i.e. the verdict of the Supreme Court in Jakarta to the utmost! Full STOP!

Undermining Conservation — Battle to Save Dive Paradise
DIVE Magazine December 2013 (page 64 to 80)

Governments around the world talk the talk of conservation, but their actions tell a different story. One small island, the beautiful Bangka in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, is taking on the authorities and arguing that plans to mine there are not just destructive to the environment but illegal. The people behind the Save Small Island Bangka campaign explain to DIVE why the island is so special, and how it has come under threat.

DIVEMAG #40 “Save Bangka North Sulawesi”
DIVING or MINING?

The island of Bangka, in the Celebes Sea in North Sulawesi, already has two strikes against it. First, it’s not the island you are thinking of. This Bangka is not the tin haven off the coast of Sumatra, ravaged by mining, it’s an idyllic dive spot atop North Sulawesi, home to flamboyant cuttlefish, mystifyingly rare pontohi seahorses and throngs of pink pygmy seahorses. Second, it’s about to be ravaged by mining.
