Every teacher, every parent, every student, everyone who cares about education (in short, everyone) should read this.

If you still don't understand what the Occupy movement is all about, or what these people are so pissed about, or why it is a legitimate cause, this article should just about cover it. If you read this, and still don't think there's a serious problem, then I worry for your sanity.

I freaked myself out a little watching this documentary. It's about the horrific chemical contamination of the water supply at the Marine Corps base Camp LeJeune, where I was born. I already knew about this, but I didn't know all the details, and seeing the families talking about the long lines of cancer and death really horrified me.

You need to watch this documentary. Not just military families, but EVERYONE. People need to know about this, they need to know how hard the Marine Corps and DoD has tried to keep it under wraps. There is currently a bill in limbo in the House of Reps to provide for the veterans and families affected by this. People need to be expressing to their representatives how important it is that the bill passes.

Read some. Write some. Read some. Write some. Eat lunch. Write some. Read some.

Happy Birthday to the great Edgar Allan Poe!

You're all Invited! to the University of Houston's Second Annual Graduate Student Literature Conference, which despite the name is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in any discipline! Check out, folks! If you're a student, chances are you've written tons of papers that never see the light of day. This may be your opportunity to share one with a larger audience!

I just received word that a paper I presented at a conference at Brigham Young last October is going to be published in their journal Literature and Religion!!! Score!!!

Is anyone here surprised? Raise your hand. No? Didn't think so. Depressed? Terrified? Furious? Yeah... thought so.
"Secrecy is taking over from free speech in the United States. While we naively thought the Obama administration would be more transparent than the previous one, it is actually the first to sue five people for being sources and speaking publicly."
