February 28, 2018 - Pre-Meeting Workshop: “Immediate, Fixed Full-Arch Rehabilitation with Subcrestal Angle Correction Without the Need for Cement or Screws”

Academy of Osseointegration Meeting - Pre-Meeting Workshop

Robert A. del Castillo, DMD and Gary Morris, DDS

The full-arch, implant-supported fixed prosthesis procedure is often complex, time consuming and can be unaffordable for the average patient. Advances in technology and innovation are making this treatment option more common, simplified and a time saving solution. This workshop will teach an advanced treatment solution that incorporates unique implant designs that allow for complex anatomical conditions to be properly managed, and will help maximize the available bone, overcome anatomical structures and extend the A-P spread. Attendees will also discover a novel attachment system that requires no screws and no cement, to simplify the restorative technique and minimize chair time for the restorative team.

Watch the Video: https://vimeo.com/251316022

Upon completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:
• Utilize site-specific implants for subcrestal angle correction
• Determine the quantity and positioning of implants for the best outcome
• Identify the indications and limitations of a fixed attachment system
• Describe the protocol and procedure for immediate load cases
• Execute the surgical techniques necessary to place multiple, site specific implants in a full-arch setting
• Process a full-arch, fixed prosthesis without cement or screws through a hands-on exercise

February 28, 2018 - Pre-Meeting Workshop: “Screw-Retained, Site Specific Immediate Implants for Mid-Facial Tissue Preservation”

Academy of Osseointegration Meeting - Pre-Meeting Workshop

Harold Baumgarten, DMD and Stephen Chu, DMD, MSD, CDT

Post-extraction socket immediate implant placement in the anterior maxilla remains one of implant dentistry’s most challenging procedures. Anatomic challenges often result in implants being placed and angulated in a compromised facial-biased position. This leads to cement-retained restorations or the use of angled abutments, both of which are sub-optimal for preserving mid-facial tissues.

This program will demonstrate why the use of an innovative implant design together with an appropriate screw-retained provisional and final restoration can help maximize bone and soft tissue volume. A dual or Co-Axis® Implant design allows for Subcrestal Angle Correction™ leading to properly placed implants and the 100% use of screw-retained restorations. Predictable anterior esthetic outcomes in post-extraction socket immediate implants in the anterior maxilla are achievable and should be considered by all implant specialists.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants should be able to:
1) identify patient candidates for post-extraction socket immediate placement in the anterior zone;
2) incorporate tissue management guidelines for preserving the natural gingival contours post treatment;
3) explain the predictable anterior aesthetics benefits of a unique site-specific implant combined with a screw-retained restoration;
4) execute the surgical techniques necessary to place an immediate implant placed in an anterior socket site through a hands-on exercise; and
5) demonstrate prosthetic provisional restoration techniques to capture subgingival tissue contours around anterior immediate implants through a hands-on exercise.

Speakers:

Harold S. Baumgarten, DMD
Dr. Baumgarten received his dental degree, as well as Certificates in Periodontal Prosthetics and Periodontics, from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Baumgarten is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry and The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. He is a Clinical Professor with the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Baumgarten maintains a private practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Stephen J. Chu, DMD, MSD, CDT
Dr. Chu received his doctoral degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and his master’s degree in restorative dentistry and certificatein post-graduate Fixed Prosthodontics from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. He subsequently obtained his dental technician certification in dental ceramics and ASMDT status at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Chu is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Ashman Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry as well as Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Chu maintains a private practice limited to fixed prosthodontics, aesthetic, and implant dentistry in New York City.

Southern Implants North America Launches New Implant Designs

JUPITER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In conjunction with this week’s American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Implant Conference in Chicago, privately held Southern Implants North America, Inc. (SINA) formally launched several new implant designs previously available only in international markets.

SINA expects to significantly accelerate its growth in the North American market driven by the new opportunities these products create. The availability of both a Deep Conical Connection product line as well as the expansion of the External Hex product line will allow SINA to more comprehensively address its innovative treatment solution strategy. The addition of a Deep Conical connection, especially in the 3.5mm and 4.0mm 12 degree tapered Co-Axis® configuration, greatly expands its offering for predictable anterior aesthetics. Implant dentists can expect to add both to their predictable anterior aesthetics and their full arch rehabilitation capabilities with the 3.25; 12 degree Co-Axis® implant; and the 4.0mm, reduced platform, 24 degree Co-Axis® implant. Importantly, these new implants and their complementary restorative components will only be available in North America through SINA.

Pleased with the company’s achievements in its first year of operations SINA President, Lars Janson, believes, “Our strategy to focus on innovative treatment solutions that deliver optimized outcomes has been well received by the North American dental implant community. We look forward to elevating our national presence and our company’s philosophy to serve and deliver highly specialized products to dentists who tackle the most challenging types of implant procedures.”

Products designed and manufactured by Southern Implants solve complex oral care issues not offered by larger implant companies. In the coming months, several additional technologies unique to Southern Implants will also be introduced stateside. These products, available internationally for years, have had an excellent performance response and documented clinical validation.

Southern Implants has been a pioneer in the top-end specialist sector of the dental implant market since 1987, servicing maxillofacial and craniofacial surgeons, prosthodontists, periodontists and general dental practitioners alike. Our continually expanding product range includes both established and state-of-the-art technologies, enhanced by exceptional customer support. SINA is located in Jupiter, Florida.
