Do you or someone you know have a good advance directives story? In advance of National Healthcare Decisions Day (April 16) JourneyCare is producing a series of videos about the need for individuals to consider and create their advance directives. These videos will be shared in April on journeycare.org and on our social media platforms. We need your help! JourneyCare is looking for compelling stories from individuals of any age, any marital status, willing to be videotaped as they explain why they created an advance directive. Perhaps they had a personal experience such as the birth of a child, tragic accident, loss of a loved one or another event that made a huge impact and spurred the decision to plan ahead—we’d like to know!
If you know of a friend, family member, partner, community neighbor—or even yourself—willing to participate during the videotapings in March, please email Rachael at rtelleen@journeycare.org with a brief description of the story.

We are so thankful to Ciarra Federspiel, a high school senior, for sharing about her positive experience with our organization during a very difficult time. It was our honor to care for her mother, and to be there for Ciarra and her family. "I am here as a daughter sharing my story in hopes of bringing other families comfort, especially families who are unaware of hospice or unsure of it," Ciarra writes. "I want them to know how much it helped my mom and our entire family, so that it might help them too." Read more from Ciarra on our blog, SharingOurJourney.com.

WIFR TV Rockford shares how JourneyCare respite care volunteers are helping the Hubert family in Roscoe, Il., by providing temporary caregiving relief. Kelly Hubert spends a lot of her time at home caring for her daughter Livia, who is in need of constant care. “Kelly has several weekly obligations that require her to leave her house, but since she isn’t able to leave Livia alone, she relies on the support of volunteers from an organization called JourneyCare, who spend time with Livia while her family is away,” WIFR reports.
