I'm typically a fan of the Capital Grille, but this was disappointing. The ingredients were high quality, but the salmon and scallops were both over cooked, the wine was not appropriately chilled, and the service was impersonal. I expect more for the money.

Went here to celebrate a birthday and found the service to be rather impressing. Our waitress was outstanding with our reservation our table was decorated with confetti and we were even brought a dessert complimentary. Our waitress told us that if we didn't like the dessert she would buy us whichever one we wanted from the menu. In addition to the service, the food was great as well.

In terms of food, it's top notch. I love steak. I love rare meat. The aged kona crusted special porterhouse was incredible. Rare, but not cold. The aged texture and taste of the meat was fantastic. I could have eaten that raw, it almost seems a shame to cook it, but the flavor of the crust was unique and wonderful. My only complaint, we sat at a back table by the bar, and the tables are a bit snug for any size dinner plate. Overall. I've paid more for less quality. It's $$$ expensive, but I found the quality of the products to be worth the price. Excellent wine list by the bottle, and not too bad by the glass. They also have a passable but average beer list for those who think beer goes better with meat than wine, like me.

Phenomenal dining experience in the Nation's capital. The variety of top notch steaks, in conjunction to the view and meticulous service made our dining experience one of the best trips we've had in awhile.

Who doesn't love Capital Grille? I can only afford to eat here when my parents or their friends are in town to pay for it, but it's SO worth it. The atmosphere is very "power DC" - dark, lots of fabric, booths/separations to feel more intimate, and older artwork etc. There were two of us and Tony was our server. He was fantastic- very attentive and made excellent recommendations. We had the lump crab and prosciutto wrapped mozarella appetizers. The light sauce on the crab was creamy with a hint of horseradish that was perfect, and the prosciutto wrapped mozarella was salty and crunchy and creamy at the same time. For entrees we both had the porcini rubbed delmonicos with aged balsamic- be warned, they are ENORMOUS. I couldn't even eat half, but it was so delicious. Tender and lots of marbling. We also had a lobster craving so we split the 2 lb steamed lobster, which was sweet and tender and delicious as well. Tony recommended an excellent red wine (I forget the label and type) that was $185/bottle, and it was delicious and paired well with the steaks. Dessert was coconut cream pie that was creamy and sweet and just the right amount of coconut flakiness. Overall, it was an amazing meal, but at $500 for two people I wish I could afford to eat here more often!!! The service is always amazing and the food is perfectly cooked. This would be perfect for a special occasion dinner if you have the money to spend!

Manuel Portocarrero provided top notch service to me and my husband during visit to The Capital Grille. We dined to celebrate our 7th Anniversary and it was wonderful. Manuel was courteous, thoughtful and went out of his way to make sure we marked the special day with an enjoyable dining experience. He was attentive without being too much. The steaks were flavorful and cooked perfectly. My husband had the dry aged sirloin and I the filet mignon. The night was topped off with a special dessert plate with perfect cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake.

Great place for after work drink and appetizer. Wonderful steaks. But best item is the calamari with peppers. Expensive, but you pay for the great food and service. Once a year treat. Or more frequent to impress business clients.
