Spent all weekend getting XBMC and MythTV installed on my HTPC. So much work but oh my god it's so much better than Windows Media Center. Surprisingly compiling XBMC from source was the least of my troubles, blown power supply, unsupported graphics card and capture card with no linux drivers almost had me turn around... maybe I'll write it up after I enjoy some couch time.

Want to try this so bad! And, between the Kinect and Tobii Microsoft really seems to be making a strong investment in new interaction methods. I'm not sure what the exact arrangement between Tobii and Microsoft is but Tobii has been showing up at Microsoft booths at the various trade shows etc.

Just came across this Jerry McGuire style mission statement mistakenly posted publicly by a Google employee. Pretty smart stuff and surprisingly I think it endears Google even further to me... a must read if you haven't already read it!

For anybody headed to Hong Kong (per chance for a Google announcement of some sort) here's my scouting report based on being married into a Hong Kong connection.

Fung Shing (all over chain, decent traditional dimsum and traditional Chinese), one of very few places that still have a Dai Bau (big bun) but it's dimsum only so don't try to order it for dinner!

Upscale western Hong Kong fusion, go to Soho and just walk around, but honestly concierges at nicer hotels have a better insight into this than I do.

We had great reasonably middle tiet priced sushi and japanese food in a nice setting at Sakaegawa in Causeway Bay

Tea at the Peninsula in Mong Kok is a classic), plus lots of high end shops around that area.

Shopping, bargains and souveneirs: Ladies Market Mong Kok

Fine shopping ($$$$): Sogo mall Causeway Bay and surrounding area

Nathan Street in Kowloon has some good shopping with avariety of $$-$$$ options
Hong Kong Island, Wan Chai District, Causeway Bay
