Miranda is the daughter of one of my dearest friends, Gypsy, who I met on the West Bank in Minneapolis. My first memory of Miranda
was as a toddler with the most strikingly beautiful blue eyes sitting
in a stroller as I spoke with her mom, Gypsy. I remember a room in their small home was filled with books that I thought were gleaned from the Free Store, which I believe was run by nuns from St. Mary's Hospital. I love the feeling of acceptance, joy, compassion, and a love for life and children that I experienced through Gypsy's life and poetry...and a life that does not shut itself off from diversity and thinking deeply with the skills of deep listening, as Thich Nhat Hanh has advocated in Zen philosophy. Thank you, Miranda, for giving us lessons for living wrought through your life experiences.
