I'll restart when I'm damned well ready!

It pisses me off that I can develop software that updates itself without ever having to be restarted (in almost all cases without the user even having to stop working) yet Microsoft and Apple can't deliver the most basic of updates without having to shut absolutely everything down.

I guess that's why the future doesn't belong to Apple or Microsoft.... it belongs to those of us who understand what the users actually want: restart-free updates, damnit!

Grow up, North Korea. We know your dick is small, it's not a big deal... just let it go!

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

Anyone know who this piece of shit is? I think a healthy dose of "The People's Justice" is needed here!

Time for Global Population Control World War 3!

Got to reduce the population of increasingly-disenfranchised citizens who might rise up against their corrupt and oppressive governments fight for freedom against a ruthless enemy intent on raping and murdering you and your family... specifically.

Are you an immigrant in the UK with kids? Oh don't worry... you'll get your first school choices!

Our government is racist, you see.... racist against British people.

Come to the UK... we'll fuck over our own people.... for you!

I'd love to know what the "social media guru" (bullshit title for bullshit people) for +US Airways was smoking when [s]he decided to post a picture of a woman masturbating with a model Boeing 777 in response to a customer complaint.

My other question is: was that US Airways' official position? :P

You say 1 + 1 = 2.... I say that 1 + 1 = the first iteration of exponential growth not containing decimals.

Technically we're both correct, yet I'm still a complete and total tit smarter than you!

No... this is not your brain on drugs!
It's me... in NIR (near-infrared)... with 850nm NIR LEDs reflecting from my ugly mug at a range of ~1 meter. Clearly I need to swap out the lens on the emitter to spread the light more rather than focusing it like a spotlight on the central point.

For anyone randomly interested... the (N)IR Emitter consists of 42 (N)IR LEDs arranged on a circular board. They're housed in an aircraft-grade aluminium housing with a flat-glass lens (ala spotlight style).

This emitter is mounted below the camera on a 3D-rotational mount, and the entire assembly is mounted on a tripod (though of course it can be mounted on anything assuming there's enough space to accommodate the rig).

The emitter operates at 12 VDC, drawing a maximum of 1amp... and I run it from my Anker 10Ahr battery pack (it's also well within the available current of my solar setup, though of course that isn't terribly practical given that this thing isn't all that useful during daylight hours).

Total cost of camera (which I subsequently modified to pick up (N)IR) and emitter comes to just shy of £62 excluding postage.
