We offer gifts that celebrate the farmer-heroes who bless our tables with abundance. They grow our food. They practice caring animal husbandry. They steward the land. They restore the soil. They revitalize and restore the soul and spirit of America.

Beyoncé and Jay Z visit Cafe Gratitude to kick off their 22-day vegan challenge.

The pair dined on I Am Pure kale salad, I Am Humble curried lentil bowl, I Am Transformed organic corn tacos and I Am Delighted chocolate truffles.

No word on whether or not Bey and Jay had to say what they were grateful for that day. Though given the pile of cash the two are raking in these days, we'd guess it's a lot.

Dark #chocolate is good for heart #health because good bacteria like feasting on chocolate as much as you do http://ow.ly/uQo3t
Researchers from Louisiana discovered microbes in the gut that feast on cocoa fibres. This ferments into an anti-inflammatory that is absorbed into the bloodstream.

Dr. Richard Mattes tells The New York Times why eating nuts is so satisfying:

"They’re high in protein, and protein is satiating,” he said. “They’re high in fiber, and fiber is satiating. They’re rich in unsaturated fats, and there is some literature that suggests that has satiety value. They’re crunchy, and that would suggest just the mechanical aspect of chewing generates a satiety signal.”

What's your favorite nut?

We make raw, organic nut and seed butters, oils and chocolates in Berkeley, California. We support family farmers.
Introduction
Living Tree Community Foods is a small company that manufactures raw and organic nut butters, pestos and chocolates in our certified organic processing plant here in Berkeley, California. We distribute our creations worldwide. We are well represented in natural food stores, co-ops, and restaurants. We take pride in supporting family farmers.

Our alive, organic almond butter, made from California almonds, is our best selling product. Unlike regular nut butters, ours are created over two to three days using a slicing process, keeping the nuts as fresh and alive as possible; this provides a robust flavor and a rich texture.

Our Unfiltered, Unheated, Unpressed olive oil is also made in a unique way. The olives are sliced and then centrifuged to separate the solids from the liquids. Thereafter, the oil is separated from the water. The result is an oil with a bright, buttery flavor that has been processed at room temperature.

Our other cold pressed oils include Black Sesame, Coconut, Pumpkin Seed and Chia Seed. Our nut butters, chocolates, oils and pestos appeal to a wide range of people and in particular to those who embrace an organic or raw foods diet.  We welcome your support, feedback and especially questions!
