My brother always called the Pacific Northwest "God's Country." He went to the University of Idaho and always wanted to move back there. It never happened, but he thought it the most beautiful place on earth.

The wind and umbrella combo has not been very successful for me or mine. But otherwise, yup. Nothing like a good umbrella to REALLY keep you dry! No hat does what an umbrella does :-)

We are watching "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" -- and I realize they are playing "Home on the Range." Suddenly, I feel VERY smart because I know something Garry doesn't know. So I say "Did you know that this is the official state song of Kansas? And the unofficial song of the entire west?" He says "No" (I don't know what I'd have done had he said "yes") ... and I smirk with satisfaction :-) Thank you again! I felt so smart!

I gather you've been there. Unforgettable. I like Tombstone almost as much as the canyon, but for obviously different reasons.

We have wild turkeys all over the place. They do not seem to realize they are birds and retain their dinosaur attitude. I had one attack my car. It was hilarious but a bit weird.

Those little purple flowers are May flowers? They grow everywhere here. Like a ground cover and no one knew what they were till now. I'll have to go tell the neighbors 😆 You forgot the BEST cookie of all. THE FIG NEWTON. ..My fave and born right around the corner in Newton. Mm yum! And New England clam chowdah! That's how it's pronounced. Thank for all this. The beer drinkers would never forgive the omission of Sam Adams beer ... and Sam himself. The feisty old guy was not satisfied starting a revolution. He had to go start brewing beer too!

It's way too much informatiaon for any blog. Virginia, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania share these very long histories ... involved in American from the earliest settlements to today. To make it (almost) manageable, you'd have to work in sections ... Boston, Blackstone Valley, Merrimack Valley, Sturbridge, Stockbridge and the Berkshires, Plymouth (south shore), the Cape and the Islands ... It's not a big state, but a lot happened here. And each part of the Commonwealth has its own history. Oddly the three states I mentioned are all Commonwealths rather than states.

Beautiful and a great way to start Black History Month.

Our U.S. doodle today celebrates Harriet Tubman, who led hundreds of slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad.

I hardly know where to start. Okay. The ancient old mattress so hard we wound up sleeping on the even older futon in the "living room" because it wasn't quite as uncomfortable. No hangers in the closet. None, not a one. No baking dish. Toilets BOTH clogged. Mold in bathrooms. Chipped, ancient toilet seats. Heavy machinery in parking lot starting chugging at 7 this morning. I'm told that they renovated a mere 10 years ago and are planning to renovate when they get the money. It's a dump. I've traveled a lot and this is the first place I've ever given a really bad review. These people don't even try. I have pictures, in case anyone thinks I'm exaggerating. Front desk is terribly pleasant ... fixed smile and glazed eyes. Unless you have NO other choice, go anywhere esle. Motel 6 would be better. As a time share, this is really awful.
