Fantastic article about what has, or maybe has not happened, on the Texas-Mexico border.

I'm not sure our 14-year-old son Charlie would survive adolescence and his teenage years without his iPad. I therefore feel forever grateful to the late Steve Jobs for inventing the iPad, and simply s...

Thanks! He's a handful for an old man of 11. He was 10 1/2 when I took that pic in our backyard.

New Website Launch + Print Giveaway!

Hi friends! I'm please to announce the launch of my new website, www.meleahreardon.com, from which you are now able to purchase prints of my work! I will also be providing HDR tips and tutorials for anyone wishing to learn more about HDR photography, and will also work to feature and promote the talent of many skilled photographers on G+ in need of more exposure. Much time and effort has gone into making this site, and I'm happy to first share it here with my awesome G+ community. You all are the best!

In celebration of this launch, and as a thank you for all your support, I'm giving away three 8x10 high quality prints of this image of Mount Rundle. To enter, simply re-share this post, and I will pick three people at random from those who share it. The drawing will occur on Monday morning, and I will print and ship on on Tuesday.

Thank you!

Happy anniversary, American women! For what, you ask? 'Twas on this date in 1920 the 19th Amendment became effective, granting women the right to vote.

The Amendment does not require men to remember anniversaries.

I've been using Tradesman for well over a decade, including annual maintenance services, as well as for repairs when needed. Last year they did a big plumbing job, replacing discharge pipes and installing a clean out. When it came time to replace my heating and AC system this year, I never considered anyone else. They are that good, and have been over the years. They have always met or exceeded my expectations, and this big (to me) job was no different. They show up when expected, work diligently, do a top-notch job that costs exactly (to the penny) what they had estimated (as always). In addition we moved the ducting from under-floor to attic. They did all the cut-ins for the ceiling vents, and so much more. Israel and all the guys were fantastic to work with. Without any hesitation I highly recommend them for any heating, air conditioning, plumbing, or related work.

"We know roofing and we know remodeling." That's what they say on their television ads. What they should tell you is they DO NOT know keeping appointments or giving courtesy calls. I'll never know if they know roofing or remodeling. I called them last week for an estimate. We agreed someone would be here at 1:00pm Tuesday (today). The appointment was confirmed yesterday. It is now Tuesday, 2:30pm--no show, no call. May your experience be different.

This establishment is no longer in business under this name (at this location). The same owners' remodeled and relaunched this location under the name "Cantina Texas". Under the La Fiesta name the business had a health code violation (I don't know full details, so I won't say more). That combined with lackluster food and service, and very strong competition from other eateries - such as George's II, in the same shopping center, likely forced the name/motif change.

Within the past several months (as of this writing in May, 2012), this location has closed now an El Conquistador (much for the better, in my opinion).
