Adoptive parents are even more at risk to make this parenting mistake.

#adoption #parenting #antifragile
Are children really anti-fragile? What might that mean for adoptive parents? Sure we want to protect our kids, but what if doing so ends up hurting them?

One commenter (so far) disagrees with the premise. What do you think?
If we could truly love ourselves, could we also more easily love those around us? If so, which of your imperfections can you declare your love for?

"Really. Tell me how adoption is different these days." #adoption
For all the progress these days with open adoption, a reader asks is adoption actually better now, especially for the adoptee. Your thoughts?

A micropost: what makes a life meaningful?
What makes life meaningful? A big accomplishment? Leaving your big & unique mark on the world? Or does a meaningful life come from something smaller?

It shouldn't be so hard for a person to gather all their pieces. #adoption #adoptee #obc
Imagine you are 67 years old and you’re sitting at a table in a coffee shop on Niagara Falls Boulevard with two women you never knew. The younger one asks, “Would you like to see a picture of your mother?”It turns out the two women are my biological half-sisters. How w... - The Buffalo News

Such a thing as being too tenacious?
Does never giving up make one a winner or a loser? How do we best support a tenacious person? The film Little Miss Sunshine makes me muse on tenacity.

Public ridicule hurt like the dickens at the time, but it led to a shift I needed to make.
If I trace it back, my book on open adoption has its roots in being publicly ridiculed. I explained how I got hurt and the aftermath in a recent interview.

"I didn’t want to get my children to adulthood and THEN find out things I should have known about parenting an adoptee."

It's my book's 3rd birthday, and I was interviewed Mile High Mamas.  #openadoption

I had the pleasure of working with Bryan West on trying out a SmileBrilliant TeethWhitening Kit and offering a giveaway on my review blog. The product lived up to the expectations I had, and Bryan was wonderful to deal with. He was personable, stayed in touch to the appropriate degree, and was always kind and professional. It has been a very positive experience, and I have a whiter smile to boot!

Katie led me through my first Pilates class expertly. She knew exactly how hard to work me so that I could find my edge -- to be challenged but also experience success. The studio is clean and bright, the machines well-maintained and also clean. I highly recommend Personal Pilates Plus. Disclosure: I assist with social media for Personal Pilates Plus. I love representing such a wonderful organization.
