People are responding. What did you find -- positive or not-so-positive -- that was not in the adoption brochure? #notinthebrochure   #adoption
Adoption brochures don't always tell the whole story. An Family to Family Support Network podcast shows a better way to prepare people for adoption.

How are those New Year's Resolutions coming?
In the battle between self-improvement and self-acceptance, how do we find balance? Maybe it's more of a dual than a duel.

You might think that once adoption papers are signed and the child has a forever family, that’s the end of the story. Guest poster +Adam Pertman stresses that while finalization is the end of one journey, it’s also the beginning of another.
Adam Pertman, formerly of the Donaldson Adoption Institute, talks about his new organization NCAP, The National Center for Adoption Permanency.

Post adoption support is critical and can make the difference in whether or not an adoption "succeeds." Families should be careful to find support that is properly educated on the most recent understandings of neuroscience and the lifelong-shaping influence of adoption. #AAQ

Mom wants to keep the adoption a secret. If no one would ever guess, why tell?
Why tell an adoptee their adoption story if no one would ever guess he's adopted? Reasons why parents should build trust and identity with truth.

What do you think about this adoption-themed commercial from Kohl's?
A Kohl's adoption video shows reunion between an adoptee & his birthmom. Why are so many incensed? I hold the either/or closed-adoption mindset responsible.

"One might think that Julian Lennon would have a heart filled with envy for his half-brother. Sean got the full-time dad, the intact family, paternal love and attention — so many vital relationship elements denied Julian while his father lived."
Julian Lennon's heartset applies in adoption because it gives emphasis to loving over resenting, to union over division; it puts the loved one at center.

I had the pleasure of working with Bryan West on trying out a SmileBrilliant TeethWhitening Kit and offering a giveaway on my review blog. The product lived up to the expectations I had, and Bryan was wonderful to deal with. He was personable, stayed in touch to the appropriate degree, and was always kind and professional. It has been a very positive experience, and I have a whiter smile to boot!

Katie led me through my first Pilates class expertly. She knew exactly how hard to work me so that I could find my edge -- to be challenged but also experience success. The studio is clean and bright, the machines well-maintained and also clean. I highly recommend Personal Pilates Plus. Disclosure: I assist with social media for Personal Pilates Plus. I love representing such a wonderful organization.
