Victoria Tower
Castle Hill, Huddersfield, England.
Perched on Castle Hill overlooking Huddersfield, the tower was completed in 1899 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign. The corner-stone of the tower was laid on 25 June 1898 by Mr John Frechville Ramsden and was officially opened by the Earl of Scarborough on 24 June 1899. The walls of the tower are four feet thick at the bottom, tapering to two feet at the top. The tower was renovated in 1960 when the top seven feet were removed. It reaches the height of almost 997 feet above sea level.

Thurne sunset

I have not been back to Norfolk since I was a schoolkid, but I did remember though it is a very flat area, it did have some beautiful scenery. To all those wishing to travel to the UK, I would highly reccomend a visit to Thurne in Norfolk, it has a very charming windpump which has been restored to working order. If you are lucky, the sun will set behind it and illuminate and bathe the area in its warm light.

Happy Earthday!

WARNING IMAGE THEFT

Some of our London based members have noticed some of their working has been uploaded to a site selling prints commercially without their permission.

It might be worth taking a look to ensure your work hasn't ended up on there.

Posted by +Mathew Hanley  .

Thieving gits!

So, to quote +Jake Johnson "I love it when I find out that a company is using my work for commercial use without my permission. "

Thanks to +Kyla Myers for the ping to this and of course to +Jake Johnson for posting it.

Images of London that do not belong to the people selling them here. If you spot an image that belongs to someone you know in the galleries in the below link, please let them know.

+UK Photography Community has the largest reach to UK G Plus members that I know so tagging them in.

The home of UK photographers on Google+
Introduction
Welcome to the home of UK photographers on Google+.

The UKPC is specifically for photos taken within the UK.

The UK Photography Community has been running on Google+ since Pages were launched. It exists to bring together all those from the UK that are interested in photography, whatever their equipment or skill level.

How do I join the UKPC?

The UKPC is specifically for photos taken within the UK.

*ADD THE UKPC PAGE TO YOUR CIRCLES* and then..... If you live the UK, Crown Dependencies or you're an Ex Pat... There are a total of 3 steps you need to take...

*STEP ONE* Which region do you live in? (only one allowed).
If you need help see UKPC REGIONS

*STEP TWO* Got your region?
Visit your profile & add it to your "CONTACT information" <-example

*STEP THREE* Use the "request an invite" button on our Community Page
You will receive a notification that your request was successful once you have been added to our circles.

*P O L I TE W A R N I N G* - Please read the following information carefully.

If you request an invite to the community prior to completing steps 2 and 3, (for example - if admin visit your profile & do not find your region noted within your contact details as requested above) you will be ignored and you will not be able to join.

We appreciate that the above process might take a moment or two of your time. We thank you for following the above steps. This process reduces the amount of time the admin team spend adding new members to the UKPC. It allows us more time to share your photos. You will only have to complete these steps once and your cooperation is greatly appreciated. *UKPC REGIONS*

We look forward to seeing and sharing your images in the UK Photography Community. If you need extra help please email us at ukpc.gplus@gmail.com one of the team will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
