Is your organization a partner for Safe and Supportive Schools in Minnesota? Ask me why they ought to be and how they can become a partner in the Safe Schools for All Coalition.

My people -- downtown is great, but don't walk around alone drunk, please. There have been increasing numbers of violent robberies downtown.

I sometimes need to be reminded that reasonable precaution is prudent.

Tomorrow's cooking adventure! It will be be an all seafood recipe because +Jan Radder doesn't eat land critters. I am looking forward to buying the saffron. And it will have to have olives (maybe capers instead?)

No, and I'm kicking myself for not writing it down. I remember it started with a B but that's all.

The Monarch Festival is this Saturday, September 7th, at Lake Nokomis. This event is lots of fun -- you can mark and release butterflies, try out new arts projects, and listen to live music on a beautiful day at the park.

Splash agave nectar

Chili powder works well, too, instead of the paprika.

Did the city cut the mosquito killing budget? Seriously. Enough.

There usually aren't a lot of mosquitoes in Minneapolis because the city is on top of spraying. This year is really terrible.

The holiday lights and activities were delightful! The Santa and all the staff were incredibly friendly. Happy Zoo Year! I hope to visit again during the day when I can check out the animals.

We had a really great time at P.J.'s today. The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious. The lunch specials were great (even on Sunday when many places were gauging.) The same folks run a candy and ice cream store next door. Don't be fooled by the drab parking lot! You really need to go for it!

Great playground and waterpark. 2 accessible swings, 2 toddler swings, and 2 traditional swings. Lots of slides. Rope climbing structures. Kid sized zipline. Rocking boat. Splash stations. Ample free parking off Hood.

I love May Day. It's the pastries that keep me returning.

I really enjoy this spot. It's western BBQ, not southern. I'm from Texas so it's exactly what I want in my BBQ. I really enjoy the mashed potatoes and corn bread. The cucumber salad is great, too. It's noisy and bustling.

I had fine food the first two times I went to Bar Louie in Uptown. When I went on a Friday evening for a drink, though, I was aghast by their dress code. No white t-shirts, no sports jerseys, etc. I walked away. There's no way I'm patronizing a business that isn't inclusive. Don't judge a patron by their clothing, skin color, or culture. If a patron is being a problem, handle it. This is a sad direction for Uptown to be going.

This foodie loves Mango. Look past the store front and prepare to savor the Caribbean food. Mofongo and plantains abound. You can also have paella, for less than you can prepare it at home (saffron is expensive!) The service is slow because the food is prepared when you order it. Bring friends, sit back at the spacious tables, and enjoy a slow, delicious meal. My suggestions: green plaintain tapas or ceviche appetizer; ropa vieja or paella. Try the congri!
