Starving For Trash
Trash feeds the hungry, baseboard crumbs,
shelter hand outs, a bunch of cheese & bologna
from the government, people are starving,
on park benches, at the dinner table, malls,
the trusty neighborhood store,
here comes the pastor, shaking his words, ...

she digs through the dirt, eats from the
grease pit, calls herself a celibent Queen?
Ten minute showers, babies screaming ...

When Said and Done
The dust has
settled... I'll be there as
before, warm feet and hands, waiting for the
chance to calm your somber spirit, reflect upon you
like rainbow showers in midsummer, I'll be there,
stitching the pieces back together, needle and thread  by the bed, wh...

Black Liquorish

raspberry red stuck to the mirror
the wine from last night
liquorish lips and kinky locks
a makeup of her beauty

oval eyes dipped in chocolate hue

On This Journey
I catch myself staring off,
I have too many thoughts,
to carry on this voyage,
more leafs than a tree,
the weight of a pounding river,
rolling off my back, You can
feel the pain, the mud up to my
knees;the sting of the burning sun.
even the gravel between...

A Peace Lily Dream
One somber day, my soulful hand did gaze at its peace.  It was charming as the snow in spring. My fervid breath leaned in the calm breeze. For this flower was dancing in my dreams.  My feet of sore age desired to join in. I saw winged angels in heavenly gow...

Against The Grain
Somebody is trying to pull my scalp Tie it around my neck, make me a cap A soldier outside the earth’s orbit That’s far out man, in my ocean of hatred Mama couldn't swim, wouldn't swim She pulled my hand, my fingernails dug in Into the pit black sands, I he...

Is He?
He is the calm in the middle of my storms; words of kindness roll off his tongue. He has a gentle whisper when trying to get his point across. Therefore, I take pleasure in knowing he has my best interest at heart. When I'm feeling stressed during the day, ...

Introduction

Ms. Jessica Hughes better known as Jhpoetry in the cyber world has been writing for more than ten years.  She was born and raised in the upper parts of South Carolina. As the only child to a single parent she became creative early in life. And this imaginative seed grew well into her adulthood where she fell in love with her muse. During this time span, Jessica has used the tool of poetry to express her voice. And in doing so she has been widely noted as a diverse poetess. However, Ms. Jessica’s new collection of poems “BLUE MAGIC “ ~ A Prelude To Love~  is a scope into the rebirth of  her most intimate works.

Bragging rights
Ms. Jessica Hughes has been fortunate enough to attend book signings in various counties. She is eager to participate in another book signing where she currently resides in Charlotte, NC. Jessica participates and enjoys engaging in poetry readings. She also has experience in writing specialized poems for family, friends, and for those who take pleasure in her work. Her poetry has been admired by her peers as well as total strangers.
